Family Center Orange/Blue Room Practicum:

To enrich your experience in the child development course, you will be participating in a practicum experience. During predetermined times throughout the week you will be going to our family center attached to CHS to observe the teachers and students. You will be given an observation packet and be required to complete weekly observations as well as four major observations; physical, cognitive, emotional, and social. You will be expected to complete a final project at the completion of the course.

Tests- Tests will be given at the conclusion of each unit. Study guides will be provided the week prior to the exam. Turn in completed study guides for extra points.

Final- You will put together a final project, containing all of your observations on your focus child from this semester.

Attendance Policy

Students are required to follow CHS attendance policies. You are considered tardy if you are not in the classroom when the bell rings. You are considered Absent Unexcused (AU) if you are more than 15 minutes late OR have not been previously excused through the attendance line. School policy states that if you are tardy 3 times, which will result in a detention. 1 detention per tardy will then follows. After 5, you will be referred to your administrator.

Make- Up Policy

YOU are responsible for getting the make-up work from the teacher and turning it in on time. If you are Absent Unexcused (AU), you will not be allowed to make up work, tests, projects, etc. All assignments, notes, video lessons will be online on via Google Classroom so you shouldn’t have an excuse that you didn’t have it.

Google Classroom/ Flipped Classroom

For this course I utilize Google Classroom and a flipped classroom. This means that for homework assignments, you’ll be expected to watch a brief lesson on our Google Classroom site. This allows us to explore more topics in class together. I will send you an invitation to join our site.

Grading

Grades will be a culmination of homework or in class assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests (80% of your grade). The final project is worth 20% of your grade.

90-100% = A

80-89% = B

70-79% = C

60-69% = D

59% & below = F
