This is my short term career goal: Obtain my AA degree in Child Development
In order to get there, I must: (Include classes to take, appointments to make, experience to get, etc.)
1) I will need to complete 36 units of child development certificate in preschool: Bilingual/Bicultural specialization.
2) I will need to complete 60 units towards my AA degree in Child Development.
3) I will need to get experience in early childhood education programs, starting with volunteering and then apply for the teacher assistant position.
4) I will need to get my child development certificate from Los Angeles Mission College.
5) I need to complete Administration classes, cd 38,39 and 65 at LAMC.
6) I will need to make an appointment with my counselor for future steps.
This is my long term career goal: Obtain my MA in Child Development
In order to get there, I must: (Include classes to take, appointments to make, experience to get, etc.)
1) I will need to graduate with my AA in Child Development from Los Angeles Mission College.
2) I will need to make an appointment with my counselor or advisor to get a Student Educational Plan.
3) I will need to transfer to CSUN to obtain my BA majoring in Child Development and minoring in child care administration.
4) I will need to complete field work experience in Early Childhood Education Programs. Continue volunteering in the different programs (private, state/federal funded, family child care).
5) Upon completing my BA majoring in child development and minoring in child care administration I will need to apply for my Master Teacher Permit and apply to Educational Psychology department at CSUN to obtain my Master’s Degree in Education emphasis on early childhood education.
6) I will need to gain experience working with children and families.
7) I will need to apply for mentoring program as I work my way up to a master teacher position.
8) I will need a Mentor Director to guide me throughout the process.
9) I will need to attend professional conferences and workshops.
10) I will need to join NAEYC professional organization.
11) I am hopping seven years from now to become a center director.
