Tests/Quizzes

Students can expect tests and quizzes throughout this course. Some will be tests at the end of a unit and others will be mini quizzes that follow a topic area. Whatever the form of testing, students will receive advance notice. If a student is absent for a test, the student will only be provided an opportunity to write the test if the parent/guardian contacts the school on the day of the absence. The student will not be permitted to write the test and will receive a zero if the absence is not legitimate (skip). The test must be written immediately upon the student’s return to school; it is the student’s responsibility to arrange a time with the teacher to write the test.

Buddies/Social Responsibility

We will be visiting our buddies at Central once per week. Therefore, our time at buddies is equivalent to 20% of our overall course time. Students will be required to be at every buddy day and to interact with their buddy enthusiastically, actively, appropriately, and responsibly. You will be receiving a mark out of 5 at the end of each buddy day for your social responsibility and participation with your buddy. Criteria will be provided before the first visit. You will also be required to plan an activity, prepare materials, and provide a lesson plan as well as complete a semester end project as a gift to your buddy. All the above factors will contribute to your 20%.
