CHESTER SCRABBLE WEEKEND

30th January – 1st February 2009 at The Ramada, Chester
The Ramada is an English Tourist Board 4-Crown commended hotel situated just outside the City of Chester. It is one mile from the M53 and 1½ miles from Chester railway station. The hotel has a health and leisure centre for residents use which includes an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna, Jacuzzi and poolside bar. The bedrooms are all en-suite with tea and coffee making facilities, colour TV, in-house video, radio, telephone, hairdryer & trouser press. The price includes Friday and Saturday night dinner, bed and breakfast, buffet lunch on Saturday Sunday, all refreshment breaks and a welcome drink before dinner on Friday. The number of Scrabble players is limited to fifty four. The intention is to have three groups of eighteeneach playing a Round Robin of 17 games; should the numbers fall below those needed it will revert to a mixture of Round Robins, and Round Robins with KOH. The weekend will be ABSP rated; the total prize fund will be dependent on the number of entries (~£215). Arrival at the hotel on Friday will be from 2pm with dinner at 6:30pm; the first of 17 games will start at 8pm (see over for proposed timetable). ABSP rules will apply with 25min per player per game. Prizes will be awarded on wins and spread. No smoking will be allowed in the playing room. It is important that you bring a Scrabble set with you as they are not provided. Late cancellations may incur a charge. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry.
