The aim of the group.

Venue

All rides will commence from the Lea Valley Pindar car park, behind Cheshunt Railway Stn Windmill lane , the car park with the public toilets. start at 09.45am. prompt. So aim to be there around 9.30am.

Easy and Moderate rides go every Wednesday no matter what the weather!!

Challenging ride goes 1st and 3rd Wednesday every month. This ride starts from Ware Stn on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday.

Car parking is free for those that wish to bring their bikes in/on cars.

We will finish all rides at the Youth Hostel, close to the car park, where we can purchase coffee etc and have a chat and debrief!

Abilities

I want people to be realistic and class themselves as either a Challenging ride capable of riding on/off public roads, willing to tackle hills-even if slowly, and we would aim to cover 20/25 miles in the space of 2 to 2.5 hrs. This would not be competitive and no-one will be left behind.

Moderate ride this would be for slower, or less confident riders, willing to ride for 2hrs trying to avoid public roads and using the Lea Valley Parks extensive track system. Again no-one will be left behind.

Easy ride this is a similar ride to the above but having more stops and less miles.

MUST WEAR CYCLING HELMET or cannot cycle with group.

TIPS

Get yourself insured, optional, recommend CTC, give good cover, more details on request. Not expensive around £25/yr.

Gel saddles recommended!!

Tyre pressures hard aim for 50-60psi

Slick or less ‘knobbly’ tyres give a smother and easier ride.

Knobblies for winter. Carry a spare inner tube. Help will be given in the event of any breakdown. Nobody will be abandoned in the wilderness!!

Good source for cheap effective cycling gear.
