¨  Explain the concepts of “like dissolves like” & detergents.

¨  Define electrolyte, weak electrolyte, and non-electrolyte.

¨  Distinguish between dissociation and ionization.

¨  Explain the effect of solutes on freezing point and boiling point.

Ch. 17 – Intro to Acids & Bases (p. 466-473)

¨  Define acid, base, hydronium ion, and indicator.

¨  Identify the properties of acids and bases.

Ch. 17 – Strength Acids & Bases (p. 474-477)

¨  Differentiate between strong and weak acids/bases.

¨  Define pH and use it to determine acid/base.

Ch. 17 – Neutralization (p. 480-482)

¨  Define neutralization reaction and identify its products.

¨  Identify the acid, base, and salt in a neutralization reaction.

¨  Define titration and endpoint.

¨  Explain how the endpoint of a titration can be determined.
