Learning Intentions:

I know the location and use of safety equipment in the classroom.

I know that safety is important during lab activities and I will follow the safety rules.

I understand the scientific method and know how to make and record observations.

I can read and respond in writing to an article about current science and technology.

2. I can say the first and last name of my table partner out loud.
Tuesday / Greet your neighbor
Ice Breaker: Getting to know you in bigger groups.
You Tube and Pepper w/ short writing assignment.
Finish Lab Safety (Practice naming equipment and explaining broken glass procedure.)
Notes Day 1: The Scientific Method Observation vs. Inference
Scientific Method/Vocabulary / 3. I can name, locate and explain the use of safety equipment in the classroom.
4. I can read a non-fiction article and form a coherent response in writing.
5. I can explain the difference between an observation and inference and provide examples.
Wed./ Thurs. / More Safety (Practice naming equipment and explaining broken glass procedure.)
Lab 1: The Scientific Method: 2L bottles, accertainers, surfboards and cardinals. / 6. I know that science not only knowledge but a process of curiosity, discovery and experimentation.
7. I know the process is called the scientific method and know the vocabulary associated to it.
Friday / Binder Check
Quiz (Names, Safety, Observation, inference, scientific method, Pepper) / 8. I keep my work in a binder organized by date.
