Homework/ Tutorials/ Binder Checks 70% of grade

TOPICS COVERED:

First Semester: California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) preparation, Organization instruction, Tutorials, College Readiness

Second Semester: CAHSEE preparation, Guest Speakers, Socratic Seminars (Discussion), College visits, Tutorials

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

3 ring Binder, pencil pouch/ case, highlighter, at least 2 different color pens, pencil, sharpener, binder paper, 1 divider per every academic class, 5 dividers for avid

CLASSROOM POLICIES: (relates to Class Conduct grade)

1) BE ON TIME:

-Being on time is being in the classroom by the time class starts

- Mr. You will enforce the MCHS tardy policy

2) BE PREPARED:

-Bring all your necessary supplies to school: pencil, calculator, lab goggles

-you will need a 3 ring binder (you will organize material by topic)

-Have all assignments ready when they’re due.

-Late work is worth half credit

3) BE RESPECTFUL:

-be quiet and listen when Mr. You is speaking

-disruptive behavior will not be tolerated

-Be respectful of lab equipment and the classroom:

-unsafe behavior in labs will result in a student not being able to participate in labs

-Failure to comply will result in a 5 min detention

-No Cell phones during class time

4) BE HONEST:

-conduct yourself with academic integrity

-do your own work!

-copied/ plagiarized work will result in a zero for the assignment

-repeated offenses will result in a parent/ principal conference

KEYS TO SUCCESS:

1)attend every class and complete all assignments on time

2)complete and turn in all homework

3)see Mr. You for extra help when not understanding a topic

4)see Mr. You immediately after an absence to pick up any missing work

5)form study groups with classmates

Assignments and make up work:

1) Late work is worth half credit except in cases of excused absence

2) Assignments are due in the beginning of class

4) Students are responsible for seeing me in order to make up assignments missed

5) Make up tests will be taken within 1-2 days of returning to school. Failure to make up test will result in a zero for the test.

Extra help:

1) students should keep up with the material and not wait until the night Before the test to study!

2) I am available during lunch by appointment and AFTER SCHOOL
