CHE Board Meeting

Meeting began ~8:15 pm

Comments on Yesterday’s meeting
went well—less like a business meeting and got to know members better
- would have liked questions printed out beforehand for discussion
- wanted to questions that included new members better—to be able to share more too

- Pamphlets: Angie (will collect resources of Bay area and contacts for that from officers)
- Kids Activities: Lisandra
- Set Up/Clean Up: Bradley
- Publicity: Jackie and Jennifer
PUBLICITY:Work on flyer and be ready to change/adjust it if needed;
Let the orgs know at least ahead of time that the date is reserved—get orgs to confirm if attending to get #s. Deadline:: By early next week at latest to have flyers ready and hand out at their meetings next week and personally invite them. Facebook event also should be started too. Will be inviting BSHA and PAAC as guests for sure to Semana Binacional.

- Tues: DULCE- presentation on diabetes
- Wed: CHE- Greenlining and health policies
- Thurs: gender-specific workshops
- Fri: Hugo Lucero; platicas with Spanish-speaking families (CHE members might work on creating a pamphlet of bay area resources for families @ 9/17 meeting)
Gender specific speakers for Thursday’s workshops
- Any possible ones bc Prof Griego and Breast Cancer ppl are no longer speakers
- Jackie: knows a breast cancer person contact
- Susana: possible speaker (Joseph Griffin) or Lynette: Tang centerrepresentative
Breast Cancer walk—no one has signed up yet so emailing to remind them.
Yazmin’s schedule won’t permit her to attend officer meetings so rescheduling:
Next Meeting:
- Co-Chairs had scheduled Abby for a guest speaker, but haven’t contacted/met with her, so if any one has any speakers who ahs a flexible schedule please come up with one or a new idea for meeting to keep members coming

-Susana mentioned any BSP doctors or guest speakers

- Jackie & Susana working together and will email contacts and ask if they can create a forum as a group
- NEXT MEETING: Kaplan may be able to come to meeting and make a presentation so that the forum will be able to have more time to prepare…

Committees formed for interns to get planning for RAZA health fair and MIH: split them up and prep so they can start working on hours
CHE Unit takers updates:
Elizabeth from BSP: commuting so she can’t make up hours forunits **It was decided that all members had signed agreements knowing the requirements and expectations of members and their hours, so we cannot make exceptions for members; there will be plenty of events for people to gain hours
Jonathan can’t make meetings bc of interning during same time (but can attend officer meetings)

- Maria will give the other list of emails so they can be added to listserve
- Emailed Abby about list of members taking units for CHE
- Maria will drop off agreement forms to Abby on Friday
Co-Treasurers:
-schedule times to meet for budget for event
-allocating money to the board project and its supplies
-allocate money for fundraising officers
-Javi and Maria have reimbursements for you to do
Networking:
-put dates on socials so we can see what we’re planning
- Susana: possible social next week; putting up events (whether ppl can make it or not) trying to get dates and availabilities; even if study breaks, sake bombing at least. Please send dates/availabilities by end of next week. Send midterm dates to Susanaso she can work around those dates. ()
- Javi will email contact list to everyone
- contacting BSHA and PAHC?
- –will plan events sometime this week and arrange a social with them. Preferably a joint social with both.
- Other orgs: Fore-sight pre-opt org, Pills? AsianAmericanHealthAssoc.
- Bowling night: OCT: Thursday night; day after CHE movie night. Or the 23rd the week after**
- Establish contact list with co-chair of each Raza org.
- Community service event: La Clinica—a lot of things that we can do. (something like a hands-on activity with board and members ~25 ppl) possibly establish a monthly event with them.
Fundraising:
-through Dominos: card vs card; buy one get one free pizza thing. $70 per card. ($50-2.75 prizes of donations) can be ongoing with no set deadline:
Cards: minimum of 6 to buy; 33 $250 $2310 profit in the end
-taco fundraising, paletero and hot chocolate/pan dulce; movie night sell snacks; (movie night inviting other orgs and selling snacks there)
-the ‘original’(Mel’s) diner and west coast pizza ice cream fundraisers
-macy’s fundraisers (in spring)
-Albany bowl: tickets with $12 for 2 games and shoes and make part profit with that (Bowling night:: sell to the members)
-Possible sake bombing fundraising with other orgs.
-**Aguas frescas during the hot days at school, possibly continuing with the taco fundraiser despite the (unhealthiness)
-**Chocolate and pan dulce in the morning
- These proceeds can go to Breast cancer walk
-cans at the stores for customers getting rid of their change
-***fundraise for a new pretty banner =)
Historian:
-Will continue the meeting evaluations after each meeting to see how we’re doing
Publicity:
-board project with members; set up date with them to get them together
- poster printing for the board
PR:
-Abby called back on day laborers—can pick a date and we can do it without any notice; make lunch and info about rights etc.(possibly in Nov)*fruitvale, mission district in SF,
-has tried contacting Tang contact for any new workshops and resources but no response yet.
-Raza caucus: Susana and Javi can replace Lynette for meetings
-Would be in charge of movie night: getting projector (possible location in Casa J) projector/tv; MLK building (Stephens Lounge)
