INTRODUCTION:

Good Morning/Afternoon,

My name is ______and my colleague is______, working with Health Communication Partnership (HCP). HCP is in the process of developingradio and TV messages for its “Go Together Know Together” campaign which focuses on counselling and testing for couples. Today we are here to share with you some of the radio and TV messages that are under development and seek your views and input before we finalize their development.

In order to get your views we would like you to listen to the radio spots and/or watch the TV commercials that we have developed. Pay attention to the messages contained in each of them. Later on we shall hold a discussion about the messages you have heard and/or watched. Remember this is just a discussion and therefore there are no wrong or right answers. We therefore expect you to tell us everything you think about them. We shall use the feedback that you give us to make improvements on these messages.

Instructions for the FGD Facilitator:

Instructions:

  1. Inform the participants that in order to understand their thoughts, you are going to ask them a number of questions and that there is no right or wrong answer
  2. After introductions and informing participants the purpose of the FGD, play the first radio spot and ensure that all the participants are able to listen.
  3. After playing the radio spot, allow a few minutes (about 4 mins), before asking questions about the radio spot.
  4. Repeat instruction 3 for all the radio spots.
  5. After asking questions about the radio spots, play a TV commercial and allow a few minutes (about 4 mins) before asking questions about the TVC you have just played.
