The Gortex Shell and cruiser coat are authorized for all uniform wearers. All other major components may be authorized by the Staff Director as optional items to the dress and field uniforms.

Exceptions may be made in individual cases when approved by the Regional Forester.

Forest Supervisors can designate other positions within their units to own and wear uniforms. Designations will be included as a supplement to this section of the Manual.

6159.04h – Unit Approving Officer

The Regional Uniform Coordinator serves as the Regional Office Unit Approving Officer and has the responsibility of signing the Form FS-6100-36, Uniform Authorization.
