7.  What were the terms of the peace treaty with Spain? What did we gain from the Spanish? (691-92)

8.  Look at the images on page 689. Based on these and what you read, state two facts and two opinions that appeared in coverage of the sinking of the Maine.

9.  How was Panama chosen for the canal site and how did the US negotiate for it? (693-94)

10.  What problems did the US face in building the canal? (694-95)

11.  Why was the Roosevelt Corollary issued? (696)

12.  What events occurred in Mexico that hurt US relations with them? (697)

13.  Look at the chart on the bottom of pager 696. State one effect of each policy listed on the chart. (Monroe Doctrine, Roosevelt Corollary, Dollar Diplomacy)
