Improving Our Communities:
Chapelton Play Park Update:
Little progress with dispute over last few costs, payments, repayments and invoices. Viridor still insisting that we own them money for an alleged overpayment, and still withholding our refund from the 3rd party payment due of about £400. IF still working with Jo Gillies to try and resolve.
Date chosen for official opening of park, Saturday 21st of May at 11.00am, all concerned to be written to and invited to join us in the celebration. Look into possible use of the Bowling Club for a base for catering and/or shelter should the spring have not quite arrived.
Shields Road Closure:
Very little in the way of correspondence since the last flurry, however Rebecca Hayes has written to SLC and found out that they own the land on each side of Shields Road, and both her and IF have made suggestions as to an alternative to closure as was discussed at meeting with Taylor Wimpey. It was again noted that the prospect of closure was still 5 – 8 years away at the end of the development.
Dog Fouling:
There was no anecdotal evidence of an increase in fouling, despite the dry weather, the regular hotspots were being kept fairly clear.
Dog owners and walkers are reminded that there is still a regular free supply of 'poo bags' available in Chapelton next to the postbox opposite the community hall.
Treasurers Report:
Last months balance was £2,776.92, all loan cheques (4 x £500) to Community Councillors have been repaid, and current balance stands at £776.92
Community Police Report:
There was no representation from the Police at this meeting.
Email address links, contact details and further information on crime statistics and priorities can be found on the Police Scotland Website, who now has a live Twitter account.
Planning Applications:
There was only 1 application this month for the erection of an agricultural building at Meadowhead Farm cottage. No objections were raised.
Correspondence:
As usual all the mail has been circulated to Community Council members as we receive
it prior to the meeting and is as follows.
1/ Committee papers online (4 sets).
2/ Weekly Planning List (4 sets).
3/ Burn Road Repairs Communication from Graham Doig (Roads Dept.).
4/ Police Scotland Survey.
5/ Community Council Minutes Mar'16.
6/ Email from Councillor Margaret Cooper.
7/ Local Development Plan SLC Survey.
8/ Local People Leading – Scottish Community Alliance (2 emails).
AOB:
1/ Quality of recent remedial repairs to Burn Road (Chapelton to Hamilton/Strathaven back
road) were to be raised with Graham Doig.
2/ Slight damage was noted on the Bowling Club wall from what was suspected to be
contractors moving in and out of site for play park during construction.
3/ Lyn Ballantyne has been in touch regarding the award of a grant (£700) to Auldhouse
years ago when school was closing, which she believes was never used. She was asking
if it could be used for a hanging basket project in Auldhouse. JJ has checked minutes for
round about the period and can find no specific expenditure attributed to grant, but may
have been used over the years on other projects, further investigation will be undertaken,
however we would be supportive of a fully costed plan for the project to include the issue
of maintenance & storage to create a lasting legacy for the village.
Meeting closed 8.10pm
Next Meeting: 7.30pm Wednesday 25th May 2016
Chapelton Community Hall
