General Duties:

The Chancel Choir Director will be responsible to work with the Senior Pastor and the Worship Committee in planning, organizing, and implementing the Chancel Choir program for the Church.

Specific Duties:

Will be responsible for the music, performance times, and rehearsals of the Chancel Choir from the beginning of September thru the end of May. Rehearsals will be typically for one hour on Wednesday evenings, and the Chancel Choir performance time will be during the First Service on Sunday mornings.

Will order all music and materials, and maintain the choral music library.

Will take the lead in providing special music services during the Church year with the assistance of the Worship Committee.

Will assist in the planning of special music for the First Service during the summer months when the Chancel Choir does not meet.

Will arrive 30 minutes for the First Service to discuss any last minute changes, practices, and technology.

Will attend music workshops, seminars, etc., to improve skills and update professional abilities. The Church will pay for workshop or seminar registration fees that are previously approved by the Personnel Committee.

Will be available to help other church departments with the musical portions of their programs (i.e. Vacation Bible School).

To Whom Responsible:

The Chancel Choir Director will report directly to the Senior Pastor.

The Church’s Responsibility to the Chancel Choir Director:

Salary and other arrangements shall be established by the Personnel Committee, subject to final approval by the Church Board. The Church pay period is every 2 weeks, with the weekly rate based on a 52 week year.

The Chancel Choir Director will be subject to a 120 day probationary period, after which time the Chancel Choir Director will receive an evaluation by the Personnel Committee. Following the probationary period, an annual evaluation and review of job description will be completed by the Personnel Committee during the month of October.

Absences:

The Chancel Choir Director must notify the Senior Pastor of any absences from the First Service or from a rehearsal as soon as possible.

Grievance Procedure:

All grievances will be addressed to the Senior Pastor. If the Chancel Choir Director and the Senior Pastor cannot resolve the grievance, then the Personnel Committee will be the final arbiter.

Termination:

A thirty day written notice is to be given to terminate employment, either by the Chancel Choir Director to the Personnel Committee, or by the Personnel Committee to the Chancel Choir Director.
