1. George is constructing his personal website.

(a) He can construct the site using text editor or web authoring tool. State one advantage for each of the methods respectively.

(b) George decided to use text editor to create the webpages. He stores the HTML files in “c:¥website¥html¥” and image files in “c:¥website¥img¥”.

He inserts an image of 800x200 pixels with the following tag:

i. Describe the effect of the above tag.

ii. He can browse the page showing the image locally. However the image cannot be displayed after he uploads the files to the web server. What is the reason?

iii. Rewrite the tag so that the image can be displayed after uploading to the web server.

2. The Best Trading Company is a world-wide trading company.

(a) The following form is available on the website for job applicants to download.

i. State one advantage of saving the form in each of the following formats.

(b) The website provides multiple languages for customers from different countries.

i. Which character coding should be used? Explain.

ii. Some visitors report that the traditional Chinese characters on the webpage are not displayed properly on their machine.

The text can be viewed after the visitors manually change the browser’s character coding setting. Explain and suggest a solution to the problem.

iii. The slogan of the company is in France. The website display the slogan as image instead of text. State one advantage and one disadvantage of using this method.

i. The background color of the image is currently white. Describe the steps to remove the background color so that the logo background will not cover the color of the webpage.

ii. It is suggested to redraw the company logo in vector graphic format. State two advantages of using vector graphic over bitmap graphic format.

3. Thomas created his own internet broadcasting radio station. He interviews guests in live broadcasting programmes. Visitors can listen to live radio programmes or download the audio clips from the website.

(a) Thomas needs to use audio formats that support streaming for the live broadcasting.

(a) He wants to include some animation on the website. State three advantages of using Flash animation over GIF animation.

Describe the steps to create the animation by using tween function.

i. He found a label “High Definition” next to his video. What is the meaning of “High Definition”?

iii. The duration of the video is 15 minutes and the file size is 50MB. What is the bitrate of the video?

iv. He adds many transition and sound effects in the video without affecting the duration. Will that affect the size of the output video file? Explain.

v. There are some floating advertisements during video playback on video sharing website.

Mr. Wong couldn’t find the function to create this effect in the video editing software. Describe one possible way how video sharing website creates hyperlink in the video.
