WE ASK COUNCIL TO APPROVE:
- That YFCs take part in the Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) Summer Festival 16 & 17 June, Stoneleigh Park
- That YFCs take part in the Royal Agricultural College Open Day on 31 May
WE ASK COUNCIL TO NOTE:
- That the there will be a Defra Grant review meeting in February
- That the ARAC Forum will be sponsored by HOPS Labour Solutions and that speakers have been secured for the discussion groups Your House, Your Europe and Your Future
- That the second regional link day exploring the Campaign for the Farmed Environment is planned for late March/early April at Andrew Watts’ farm, Hertfordshire.
- That the Farm Business Development Competition will offer a case study farm in Shropshire, provide viewing dates, a day for interviews and all entrants the opportunity to attend the CLA Game Fair for a prize-giving ceremony. Scholarships are awarded to winners to attend the Oxford Farming Conference
- That Katherine Sealy and Milly Wastie will take part in a CLA debate at the Game Fair on Saturday 24 July preceding the Farm Business Development Competition prize-giving
- That three successful regional tenancy training events were held between November and January in conjunction with Savills and the Tenant Farmers Association
- That Katherine Sealy will join Sir John Beddington and Peter Kendall in the Next Generation breakout session at the NFU Conference to encourage discussion regarding Food Security
- That the AgriSkills strategy will be launched on 10 February
- That Katherine Sealy will be leading the Youth Employment breakout session at the IGD Food Industry Skills and Employment Summit in London, 10 March.
- That the Brussels study tour to the NFU office and Parliament in Brussels takes place 16 and 17 March and is over-subscribed
- That counties have suggested they receive information on CEVAS and HSE training, an advisory note on legislative requirements for trailer licence and transport of animals and rural housing
- That NatWest has held an initial exploratory meeting with NFYFC to investigate supporting YFCs
- That Novartis would like to discuss offering a travel award to Young Farmer members in Spring 2010 with the first award being made for travel in Autumn/early Winter 2010.
