Job Title:

Project Intern

Location:

The role will be based in the AMAR Foundation’s London Office in Westminster.

Job Purpose:

The Project Intern willassist the programme management team tosupport field work in furtherance of the AMAR Foundation’s aims and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Intern’s dutiesand responsibilities will include the following:

  1. Assisting project planning, timetabling and evaluation;
  2. Analysing and presenting project data;
  3. Draftingregular project reportsfor project donors;
  4. Researching and identifying newfunding opportunities for the AMAR Foundation;
  5. Assisting with creation of new project proposals;
  6. Assisting with fundraising initiatives and events;
  7. Undertaking any otherad-hoc tasks required in furtherance of the AMAR Foundation’s aims and objectives.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience:

The following qualifications, skills and/orexperiencewould be an advantage:

  1. Strong IT skillsincluding Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and use of the internet;
  2. Understandingof and interest in the Middle East region and culture;
  3. Arabic languagewould be an advantage, but is not essential.

Conditions of Work:

The Project Intern is an unpaid role.

Hours and days of work are flexible but it is expected that the successful candidate will work between 3 and 5 days per week, normally between 0930hrs to 1730hrs. Occasionally, the Project Intern will be required to work outside these hours in order to meet tight deadlines or assist in out of hours activities.

The successful candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK. Applicants called for interview will be required to provide proof of residency (e.g. passport, birth certificate accompanied by photo ID and a valid visa if subject to immigration control) before the interview takes place.

Additional Information:

The Project Intern will work directly with a Programme Coordinator in the London Office, primarily helping to successfully deliver international aid projects. Other work will be expected, for example assisting in upcoming fundraising events which are often outside normal office hours.

Upon completion of the internship the successful candidate will have gained a good understanding of the organisation of a busy charity, the complexity of work required to run international aid programmes and the skills required to function in a wider office-based work environment.
