Chad Burkhart Memorial Scholarship

The Chad Burkhart Memorial Scholarship Fund is pleased to announce the availability of the Chad Burkhart Memorial Scholarship. Chad gave his life for our freedom while serving as a Navy Seal in Kosovo. The amount of this scholarship may vary from year to year depending upon the funds available. The goal will be to provide a minimum scholarship amount of $500.00.

Garden Spot seniors are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. Applicants will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  1. Graduating senior of EasternLancasterCountyHigh School and a resident of the district for a minimum of two (2) years.
  2. Financial need shall be considered.
  3. Cumulative GPA for grades 11 and 12 will be considered.
  4. Must demonstrate a significant level of participation in extracurricular school activities or community involvement.
  5. Must be planning to attend an accredited post-high school educational institution.
  6. Must submit a scholarship application on a timely basis.
  7. Must have participated for at least two (2) years in the Middle School or Varsity Wrestling Program at EasternLancasterCountySchool District.

To apply for the scholarship, please complete the attached application form and submit to the Garden Spot High School Guidance Department. They will attach a transcript and mail to the Scholarship Selection committee by the April deadline.

**This year, completed applications must be submitted to the

Guidance Office no later than Friday, April 4, 2014

in order to meet the postmark deadline of April 11, 2014.

All applicants will meet with the selection committee for a personal interview, tentatively scheduled for late–April and or early May. You will be contacted for a specific interview time.

Notification to the winner and the scholarship certificate will be handed out at the Senior Awards night scheduled in May of each school year. Monies will be paid after proof of completion for the first semester or term in college, trade school, or technical school.

You must take the application to the High School Guidance Office.

A copy of your transcript, which will include your GPA,

will be attached by the Guidance Department.

They will then mail the application, including your transcript,

to the Scholarship Committee.
