Cha-Ching Lesson Plan Competition 2017

Contest Mechanics:

  1. Qualified participants are Grade 4 teachers from public and private elementary schools currently implementing the Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids Program. Each entry should be authored by only one (1) teacher.
  1. The lesson plan should discuss one (1) money smart value only. Select from the following values: earn, save, spend, and donate.
  1. All entries should follow the prescribed template provided. Entries must not exceed five (5) pages using short bond paper. Use Times New Roman, size 11, and double spacing in Microsoft Word document format.
  1. For the entry to qualify, the certification at the last page should be duly signed by the author and certified by the school principal.
  1. Criteria for judging will be:

Adherence to Cha-Ching money smart principles 40%

Quality of student activities with focus on project-based approaches 30%

Usefulness to classroom application 20%

Student assessment strategy 10%

TOTAL 100%

  1. The top three (3) best entries will be awarded a Certificate of Recognition and a cash prize*. The first prize winner will receive PhP 7,000; second prize, PhP 6,000; and third prize, PhP 5,000. In the event that the author wins in both the Lesson Plan Competition and the Pru Life UK Financial Literacy Educator Award, he/she will only be recognized in the Financial Literacy Educator Award and will receive the higher cash prize.

*Cash prizes will be released through Knowledge Community, Inc.

  1. Deadline for submission of entries is on October 13, 2017, Friday, at 11:59 p.m. Kindly email your entries to using, “Entry to Lesson Plan Competition_Name of School” as the subject line.

Compliance Rules:

  1. All entries shall become the property of Pru Life UK, and Pru Life UK may edit, reprint, post the winning entries on the corporate website of Pru Life UK, any digital or social media account of Pru Life UK, and any other forms of media. If used, the name of the contestant/winner will be acknowledged.
  1. The contestants and contributors consent to be interviewed with regard to their experience in teaching and promoting financial literacy. The said participants also consent to the documentation and publication of their experience in teaching and promoting financial literacy, their names, photographs, videos, and recordings for this competition, as Pru Life UK deems fit.
  1. By joining this competition, the contestants agree that Pru Life UK will be the copyright or trademark owner, as the case may be, of their entries and shall have the exclusive title, interest, and intellectual property and legal rights to all photo, video and sound recording, film, footage, audio-visual work and any materials taken/created in relation to this competition (“Intellectual Property”), and contestants will not make any claim against Pru Life UK with respect to such Intellectual Property. If requested by Pru Life UK, and at no further expense to Pru Life UK, contestants will execute in writing any acknowledgments or assignments of Intellectual Property ownership in favor of Pru Life UK or its nominees. It is also agreed between contestants and Pru Life UK that Pru Life UK is entitled to utilize in whatever form and extent any and all Intellectual Property and that no award of compensation shall be paid to the contestants for any such utilization.
  1. The contestants authorize the use, processing, and storage of their information which they provided to Pru Life UK through their entries (including any attachment(s) thereto) for a period of three (3) years from the date of its receipt for the purpose of processing their entries in these contest(s)/competition(s) and for promoting these contest(s)/competition(s), the Cha Ching Financial Literacy for the Youth Program, and Pru Life UK’s initiative to drive financial literacy and financial wellness. To the extent permitted by law, we hereby waive our rights under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its implementing rules and regulations and such other data privacy laws currently in force.
  1. The contestants warrant the originality of their entries and that the same do not infringe/violate any intellectual property and legal rights of another person.
