New Seminars!

Minimize absenteeism and keep your employees focused on work during working hours.

Ceridian hosts a full range of workplace seminars designed to fit into your employee’s busy work day. These sessions offer practical strategies and “take-away tips” that help your employees successfully balance work and personal priorities to improve overall well-being and workplace productivity.

New seminars include:

Managing in Today’s Economy

Money worries are one of the leading causes of stress. When the economy dips, people who are already concerned about their finances may worry that they won’t be able to handle any further strain on their budgets. It’s important to remember that the nation’s economy has experienced highs and lows in the past and will continue to do so in the future. The best way to weather the lows is to manage your money wisely and find ways to cope with the emotional uncertainty that you may be feeling at this time.

The Sandwich Generation

There is a growing trend towards “sandwiched” caregivers in Canada today. The growing senior population, combined with waiting until later in life to have children leaves many people caring for more than one person. In many ways, all caregivers’ experiences are the same; yet they are unique, just as we are unique people. This seminar will provide a variety of time-honoured strategies that you can apply to your particular situation.

A New Attitude: The Truth about Mental Illness

This seminar will discuss the facts and myths surrounding mental illness. By creating a better understanding of the most common mental disorders we are taking the first step towards breaking down the barriers and stigma surrounding this type of illness.

At the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Identify the facts about the most common mental illnesses today: anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders and personality disorders.
  • Detect the causes of stigma surrounding mental disorders.
  • Recognize changes to thinking and behaviour that you can make to break down the barriers of mental disorder
  • Learn about community mental health resources

Managing in an Emotional Climate

Mental illness is a leading cause of employee disability. Yet the shame and discomfort of identifying and responding to mental illness still remains for the suffering employee.

Early detection is paramount to the handling of mental illness. Employee motivation to address mental health concerns can improve with appropriate management support. However, most managers receive little or no training to enhance their skills and knowledge so that they can respond effectively to these sensitive employee concerns.

This course is designed to be an overview of mental health issues for managers in their dealings with employees who may have emotional difficulties.
