Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey (CPNJ) is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and other special needs by supporting personal growth, independence and participation in the community. Founded in 1953, we deliver life-affirming services to more than 1,400 infants, children, adults and their families each year. Why Do We Have This Event?

CPNJ’s annual touch football tournament is easily one of our most fun and popular events. The event was started 27 years ago as a way to raise money to support our work with individuals with disabilities. Funds received from teams for their registration help to support our programs. While $1,500 is the minimum needed to register a team, we always ask players to raise as much money as they can to help our work. The top fundraising team last year raised more than $10,000!

What is the Aubrey Lewis Football Classic?

This is a 6-on-6 touch football tournament, with teams competing in one of four divisions: (1) Competitive Touch Division, for teams that play in leagues or on a regular basis ; (2) Semi-Competitive Touch Division, for teams that are only playing together for this tournament; and (3) Public Safety Division (for military, police and fire department teams).

The standard registration fee of $1,500 covers a team of up to 10 players – each additional player must pay $150.

Each team will play at least two 25-minute games. Those winning at least one game will then play single-elimination games until there is a single champion in each division.

Important Facts

  • The minimum entrance fee is $1,500 and teams must register no later than Friday,May 18thth.
  • All proceeds benefit Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey. CPNJ is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.

Prizes

  • All players will receive a complimentary 2011 event t-shirt.
  • The 1st and 2nd place teams in each division will receive a trophy

Fundraising Ideas

When CPNJ established the tournament, we never intended for players to simply put up their own money to play. We wanted it to be a means for others to help us raise money for our programs. Therefore, we are hopeful you will not just support the tournament yourself, but go to others and ask for their help as well. This is a great way for other people to learn about CPNJ and everything we do for the community. Here are some thoughts to get you going:

  • Companies: Ask your company to sponsor your team. Most companies make charitable contributions and many have money set aside for this purpose, especially when their own employees are participating. Many companies match employee contributions to charity (For instance, if you gave $100, the company would match that with their own $100).
  • Individuals: We have a lot of players who simply go to family and friends to ask them to help sponsor the team. Just provide us with their information and the amount they contributed to your team and we will give them a formal letter for their tax records.

Release forms and a full copy of the rules will be sent to the Captain upon receipt of payment. Payment must be received by Friday, May18th. Payment can be made by check or credit card. Please make checks payable to Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey.

A non-refundable deposit of $500 will hold your spot untilApril 8th. The full fee of $1,500 is due on May18th.

*The Aubrey Lewis Football Classic Committee will make the final determination of which teams should be in which division.
