The contract 5 year [fixed term] contract.

Driver’s LicenceCandidates must have a full driver’s licence.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Applications should be submitted by email to and arrive by 9am on Monday November 30th.

Applications should include a letter outlining suitability for the post indicating how the qualification requirements, skills and experience are met.

The letter should be accompanied by a CV. It should include the names of three referees that have recent dealings with the applicant, which are relevant to the CEO role. Referees will not be contacted without the written permission of the candidate.

SCREENING AND INTERVIEW PROCESS

All applications received within the deadline will be screened against the person specification and the role requirements. Candidates being called for interview will be advised by December 3rd.

The first round interviews will take place in the week commencing December 7th. Candidates put forward from the first round will be invited to a further interview, which will include a candidate presentation. Further assessment of candidates, including psychometric tests, may be scheduled. When references are sought, candidates will be asked to confirm that the referees can be contacted.

CEO - JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

REPORTS TO: DRCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS

THE ROLE:The CEO will lead the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, under the direction of the Board of Directors, through its next and significant period of development

.Key elements of the role will include responsibility and accountability to the Board of Directors for:

  • the achievement of the strategic objectives of the DRCC, in the delivery of excellent services and as an influential voice in bringing about change
  • the overall executive management of the organisation and its multidisciplinary team of staff and volunteers.
  • the recruitment, leadership and development of staff and volunteers
  • ensuring that DRCC has the resources, competencies, systems, technology, procedures and practices necessary to deliver its mandate and for quality assurance in that regard.
  • solid delivery of corporate governance and compliance requirements.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Policy/Strategic development

Advising and supporting the Board in the development of policy and strategy.

Leading and implementing the next phase of organisational development, under the guidance of the Board.

Communicating and delivering the policy and strategic priorities internally and with policy makers, the wider public and the media.

Influencing key decision-makers to create change

  1. Strategy implementation

Leading and managing the implementation of approved strategies, policy and plans to deliver high quality and effective services.

Directing, overseeing and reviewing the planning and management of the DRCC services and ensuring their quality, benefits and outcomes.

Leading the formulation and implementation of business plans/budgets, and managing and coordinating the inputs of management and staff into these processes.

Overseeing and implementing the development of the research, education and training work of the DRCC.

Ensuring, in accordance with the financial parameters set by the Board, that the organisation has the necessary resources, skills and competencies to deliver on its mandate.

  1. Staff and Volunteer management

Providing effective leadership for a multi-disciplinary staff team.

Leading the development and implementation of appropriate recruitment, staff training, development and performance management systems, including the development of effective plans, which attract, maintain and support the role and input of volunteers.

Setting targets and performance indicators for, and managing the performance of, staff reporting directly to the CEO, and ensuring that targets and performance indicators are set and performance is managed in the case of all staff.

  1. Finance & Financial management

Managing the finances of the organisation within budget.

Ensuring that robust systems and procedures are in place, for financial compliance; and being directly accountable to the Board, for the performance and quality assurance of such systems and procedures.

Developing the opportunities for the organisation to maximise its capacity to attract necessary funding, particularly in relation to grants and fund-raising, to support and expand the provision of services.

  1. External relationships

As the main representative and spokesperson for the organisation, working with key stakeholders in the public arena, internationally and nationally, and extensively with the media.

Developing and managing key relationships with Government, statutory agencies, NGOs and other organisations working to address sexual violence and related issues.

Building, maintaining and managing partnerships, alliances and relationships, nationally and internationally, in furtherance of DRCC’s remit in both the public and private sectors.

Ensuring that the work of the DRCC is responsibly and effectively promoted, communicated and represented, to all key audiences.

Directing effective liaison with, and support for funders, donors, strategic partners, key organisations, and other stakeholders/ voluntary contributors as are central to the delivery of the services.

  1. Supporting governance

Acting as the main conduit for communication with the Chairperson, between the Board and the organisation.

Ensuring that the work of the DRCC is supported by robust systems that comply with best practice in terms of clinical, systemic, administrative and financial governance delivering quality assured outcomes.

Ensuring that appropriate and quality planning, documentation and supports are available for the Board and its Committees/Task Forces, and that clear advice/recommendations are put forward for decisions required.

Carrying out all legal directions from the Board, including undertaking such other duties, responsibilities and tasks as may be assigned, from time to time, by the Board.
