JOB DESCRIPTION

Post:Director

Responsible to:Chair Person, CYCD Management Committee

Hours:37 hours per week (including some evenings and weekends)

Salary Scale:£34,483.00 - £36,832.00 per annum

(Potential on target earning in excess of £45,000 per year)

Location:LUTON

Aims of Post:

To take overall responsibility for the management of the CYCD including playing an instrumental role in the continuing development of the Centre.

To oversee the management of the senior management team at CYCD.

In partnership with the local communities to design, develop and deliver socio-economic regeneration programmes.

To actively generate income through bids to funding bodies, tendering and by other means to support the development of specific projects.

To liaise with and build effective relationships with a wide range of statutory and voluntary bodies and other relevant agencies seeking to meet the needs of the local disadvantaged communities and deliver projects which are responsive to community needs.

To provide an effective business development marketing and planning function across the services and projects in CYCD.

To identify new activity, income streams and business opportunities for the further development of the services with a focus on growth and income generation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To represent CYCD at a senior level and seek at all times to build the reputation of CYCD in emerging community development markets thereby securing the market share.

To make successful bids and/or tenders for relevant external funding and ensure that such funding is deployed in meeting key objectives.

To develop and implement a sustainability strategy for identifying and delivering opportunities for growth and development of existing services and new services.

To provide strategic advice in respect of the development of wider services and to manage the day to day service development activities for CYCD.

To lead the development, implementation and maintenance of quality management systems within CYCD.

To lead, motivate and develop managers and other staff in the service to achieve the CYCD’S objectives. To ensure that all staff are effective in their role through effective management arrangements including appraisal and professional development.

Principal Responsibilities:

Fund-raising for the development of the CYCD in general and socio-economic development projects in particular.

To ensure the effective management of the CYCD and various developmental projects.

To initiate and develop provision/projects that meets the needs of the local disadvantaged community.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To work closely with relevant agencies to generate income and deliver value for money services.

To ensure effective record keeping, preparation of regular reports and administration procedures are adhered to and to prepare regular reports as required.

To develop and maintain an effective information management system for the CYCD.

To ensure the development and progression of equality within the sphere of responsibility of the job description and the fair and equal treatment of all employees, volunteers and customers.

To identify training needs of self and other employees/volunteers. To participate and enable others to participate in the identified training needs.

To attend the CYCD management committee meetings.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.

Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.

Experience of co-ordinating and developing small to medium projects.

Experience of working in a multi-ethnic community.

Knowledge:

Must have sound knowledge of minority communities.

Must have budget management skills.

Must have knowledge of developing contractual partnership agreements.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to prepare bids and submit tenders to generate income.

Ability to write reports and give oral presentations.

Excellent organisational and administrative skills.

Ability to plan courses and programmes and set realistic targets.
