Central Minnesota Parish Nurse Ministry Committee Meeting Minutes

October 9, 2013 at 9 am at CentraCare Conference Room

Attendees: Chris Jones, Riverside Evangelical Free Church, Annette Jesh, Sacred Heart SR, Diocese, Marjorie Henkemeyer, St. Joseph, Karen Reinholz and Jackie McGann, St. Francis Xavier, Sartell, Ellen Ellickson, Peace Lutheran, Cold Spring, and speaker Kim Orn, American Cancer Society

Advanced Care Directive, 12 sessions November, on website at Saint Cloud Hospital. Anyone can come and hear about ACD and fill one out.

Palliative Care

Clergy Day Oct 23, invitations per mail.

Speaker from American Cancer Society, Kim Orn, presented information about work of Cancer Society and services available to cancer patients and their families. The resource is www.cancer.org. The main contact number is 1-800-227-2345. Kim Orn can be contacted at 320-2455-0757 ext. 310.

Examples of services include:

Looking for volunteers to participate in national Cancer Prevention Study with goal of 300,000 participants nationwide. The study relates to genetics and life styles.

Cancer Support Groups

Lodging Partnership with Holiday Inn contact national cancer society 800 number above to find finances, housing and transportation

TLC catalog available to order wigs, scarves, hats, bras, accessories at www.HCdirect.org or 1-800-850- 9449

Hope Lodge Iowa City, Iowa at no cost also in Rochester and Twin Cities, and Marshfield, Wisconsin. Cancer Society will help coordinator housing with treatments for patients and families. Connections will happen within 48 hours.
