Outreach & Stakeholders

  • The Quality Management Departments at both Partners Behavioral Health and CenterPoint collaborated to conduct a QM Provider training on April 24th in Gastonia. There were 20 provider agencies in attendance. The 3 hour training gave an overview of Quality Management, Quality Improvement Projects, and included a presentation by Monarch which outlined a current project they were conducting. The training ended with an interactive session where participants created a draft Quality Improvement Project which was shared with the audience. A second training is scheduled for the Winston-Salem area on July 20th.
  • Provider training on the SOAR referral process was held in April.
  • Community operations and care coordination staff members met with the guardianship unit at Forsyth County DSS to discuss CenterPoint’s role with persons who are in Forsyth County jail who have issues with MH/SA/IDD.
  • Care Coordination leaders met with NCCN and Forsyth Hospital to address individuals with substance use issues who are on medical units due to complications resulting from the substance use.
  • Care Coordinator Lisa Hinson arranged for the Forsyth County Sheriff Department Sex Offender Unit to meet with a local homeless shelter in order to help facilitate a homeless shelter option for clients who are sex offenders. The Officer answered shelter staff questions about sex offenders and the rules/laws which affect persons staying at the shelter.

Community Events and Recognitions:

  • Stokes County Commissioner Leon Inman has been identified to receive the prestigious NC Council of Community Program Leadership Award at the Council’s Spring Policy Forum, recognizing his leadership efforts as a Stokes County Commissioner, CenterPoint Board of Directors member, NC County Commissioner’s Association Mental Health Task Force Chair and advocate for individuals with behavioral health challenges.
  • CenterPoint employee, DeShanna Johnson, received her NC State Housing Inspector Certification.
  • CenterPoint is pleased to join with Mental Health America, North Carolina Families United and the CenterPoint System of Care Community Collaborative groups in sponsoring this year’s celebration of Mental Health Month and Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week. Many community events were held including balloon releases at ten local schools, distribution of children’s mental health awareness coloring books at pediatrician’s offices, banner displays and Winston Salem Mayor Allen Joines reading of the proclamation of Child Mental Health Awareness Week, distribution of bookmarks and flyers with mental health tips, free dinner for the first 75 kids at Pete’s Burgers and more.
  • A diverse audience of staff, providers, advocates and community members gathered at CenterPoint for a showing of “The Anonymous People”, a feature-length documentary featuring real people living in long-term recovery from addiction speaking out about their experiences to ignite recovery in those still struggling with substance use issues.

Services Array:

  • CenterPoint is one of 5 recipients in the state for the System of Care Expansion Grant.
  • Three of CenterPoint’s four counties (Forsyth, Stokes, Rockingham) received EMS grants that will be used to provide CIT training.
