Cell Webquest

I. Parts of the Cell

  1. Go to and log in using your username and password. See the teacher if you have any trouble, but remember you lose 10 points if you have lost your password. Check your mustang mate, on your birthday.
  • Follow the gizmo instructions in the exploration guide.
  • Answer the 5 quiz questions at the bottom of the gizmo. DO NOT GUESS! Use the gizmo to help you!
  1. Go to on one of the cells and then select plant cell or animal cell. Once you are looking at a cell, you can move your mouse over it to see it’s name, or you can click on it to learn more about it. Go through both the plant cell and the animal cell parts.

  • Use the continue button in the top right corner to move through the slides.
  • Review both the plant cell and animal cell.
  • Click on construct a cell.
  • Choose Plant Cell and place the appropriate parts of a plant cell into the cell.
  • Choose Animal Cell and place the appropriate parts of an animal cell into the cell.

  • Roll your mouse over each part and it will tell you what the part is used for.

  • Click on cells.
  • When it asks you to register, click Maybe later
  • This will bring up the animal cell. Move your mouse over the parts to learn their names and what they do.
  • At the top of the screen, you can change to Microscope view and you can look at the cell under a microscope. There are many slides, so view as many as you can. Pay careful attention between the plant cells and the animal cells.

  • Run your mouse over the parts and review what each part does.

  • Then you can click on a cell part. It takes the cell apart and shows you only that part. At the top of the screen, it tells you about the part.
  • There is both a plant cell and an animal cell, look at the top.
  1. Click on and label the cell. Then it asks you if the cell is a plant cell or an animal cell. Once you have labeled it, click new cell, there are 4 different ones to try.
  1. Click on - If you click on the name of the organelle, it will tell you more about that part of the organelle.
