Cell Travel Brochure: Let’s Take A Trip!

Cells may be microscopic, but they are incredibly complex! Your assignment is to create a travel brochure for the cell, one that illustrates the complexity that exists within cells by comparing them to an amusement park or tourist attraction. You will produce a travel brochure that encourages visitors to take the next exit and visit the incredible sights of a plant cell or an animal cell. Humor and creativity are encouraged!

The brochure must describe at least 8 “attractions” that will “delight and excite” their potential customers. Here are some suggestions for parts of the attraction you may want to relate to the cell organelles and processes:

Transportation around the area, a food court/restaurant, gift shop, information center, rides, amazing exhibits, etc. Remember that it should be clear why each part of the attraction was used to represent each organelle or process.

The final project will be due October 28th, 2016, here are some guidelines:

Step 1: Decide on the type of attraction you want in your brochure (amusement park, city, etc).

Step 2: Choose type of eukaryotic cell (plant or animal).

Step #3: Decide which 8 organelles you will include in your brochure.

Step #4: Decide how each organelle will be represented in your park/attraction

Be prepared to share your completed travel brochure with the class and talk about some of your "main attractions!” Design your brochure, using a lot of color, pictures, and creativity!

Step 1: Identify what type of attraction you would like to model your cell brochure after: (such as an amusement park, historic town, island getaway, etc.)

______

Step 2: Identify the type of eukaryotic cell you will use in your brochure (plant or animal): ______

For each organelle selected for the brochure, you need to write down how that part will be represented in your travel brochure. For example, in a city, the nucleus could be the mayor.

Organelles / How the organelle is represented in each attraction
