Celebrations Announcement Information

PLEASE READ the following information about charges, deadlines, photos and requirements:

PHOTO AND TEXT CHARGES

There is a charge to run a photo plus a charge to run the text (words):

ONE-COLUMN-WIDE ARTICLE AND PHOTO:

  • $0.90 per word of text -- this is for an article that is 1 column wide.
  • $30.00 to run a photo that will be 1 column wide -- approximately wallet-size -- in the newspaper.

TWO-COLUMN-WIDE ARTICLE AND PHOTO:

  • $60.00 to run a very large photo that will be 3.22 inches wide x 3.5 inches tall in the newspaper. The photo will be two columns wide.
  • $0.90 per word for the text of the announcement under the photo. The text is also two columns wide.
  • $60.00 to run BOTH a wedding photo and a current photo of a couple having an ANNIVERSARY.

ONLINE NOTICE

The Topeka Capital-Journal will be adding a $10 fee per announcement published. The Capital-Journal in partnership with Legacy.com will publish each announcement online through The announcements will be archived online and available for viewing anytime.

**People submitting anniversaries of 50 years or more will receive a 20 percent discount off the total price.

**People submitting a birthday of 100 years or more will receive a 20 percent discount off the total price.

PAYMENT DEADLINE:

  • I will call or e-mail you to let you know the charge as soon as possible – usually on Monday or Tuesday before the Sunday it runs.
  • PAYMENT IS REQUIRED BEFORE THE ITEM RUNS IN THE NEWSPAPER: Payment is due no later than 12 p.m. (Noon) WEDNESDAY before it runs in the Sunday paper. If payment is not received by this deadline, the item will not run that Sunday. Payment with your credit card number over the phone is the easiest, quickest way to accomplish this.

PHOTOS:

  • You can submit a professionally printed photo* -- color or black and white and any size from wallet up to an 8” x 10”. If you include a stamped, self-addressed envelope we will return your photo. Or bring your photo in, and we will scan and return it to you within minutes.
  • Or you or your photographer can e-mail the photo to me. If you scan in the photo, scan it in at 300 dpi and put it into the JPG format. In your e-mail, be sure to tell me the names of the couple in the photo.
  • I would like to have the photo and information 10 days prior to Sunday publication, if possible.

* Photos printed on home computers do not reproduce well in the newspaper.
