Celebrating the Stars of 25 years ago

(Sleeping Beauty 1985)

Renmore’s 7th Annual Pantomime ‘Sleeping Beauty’ opened at Leisureland, Galway for seven performances on Wed 9th January 1985. Admission was €3.81/€2.54 with a 63c reduction on all tickets Wednesday & Thursday.

On Saturday prior to the show, the cast paraded in full costume through the streets of Galway to promote the Panto.

Niamh McCarthy (Princess Beauty) and Kenneth Long (Prince Richard) were the romantic leads. Dame Gerry Ferguson (Queen Formica) had the perfect foil in Gabriel Cloonan (King Fred). Eamonn Carr (Bimbo), Caroline Walsh (Lady Pamela Tooth) and Brian Kelly (Toffee Nose) added to the comedy capers.

Four foreign Princes came to woo the Princess - Joe Carey (Iceland), Fergal Walsh (Ceylon), Seán Mooney (China) and Gary Caulfield (Mexico).

Paul Muldrew was the frightening Wicked Witch, with Dermot Arrigan playing her innocent son Dum Dum. Lorna Walsh was Queen of the Fairies assisted by little Fairies of Happiness Judith Higgins, Beauty Emer McCarthy and Love Margaret Costello. Gráinne Walsh and Nessa Cawley were young Princesses.

Other leads included Jim O’Connor, Patrick Schutte (Dirty Rats), Kevin Gaughan (King of the Spiders), Fergal Walsh (Vitriolic Vulture) and Edel McFadden (Solo Singer).
