Celebrating Silver Sunday in the Royal Borough of Greenwich

Sunday 6th October 2013

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is delighted to be participating in this year’s Silver Sunday event. Silver Sunday will be a national celebration of the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and to the economy.

To make this day special, a number of free events and activities will be hosted across the borough; a complete programme of events is detailed below.

We want to challenge negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes about our older residents so please come along and support Silver Sunday. A number of restaurants will also be providing ‘Silver Sunday’ discounts on the day!

The only event you need to book is the Silver Sunday disco….You won’t want to miss the opportunity to shake your tail feather and a professional choreographer will be on hand to teach the finer art of the Lindy Hop! Contact Rajinder to book yourplace now: 020 8921 3492 or email

“Silver Sunday provides an opportunity to celebrate the contribution made by older people to the life of the nation. I am delighted that the programme of activities across the Borough will reflect many aspects of the work that support older people. I am very much looking forward to the varied programme that has been developed and hope to join in the events that are taking place…..” Councillor John Fahy, Royal Borough of Greenwich Cabinet Member for Adults and Older People.

If you are unable to travel to any of the venues and/or would like some support to participate in an activity (or know someone who needs additional support) we will do our best to help. For further information please contact: Rajinder Phull 020 8921 3492 or email .
