WHO MAY APPLY: ENLISTED (MSgt/E-7 and below). At this time, only the rank of SSgt/E-5 is available. Future promotion to MSgt/E-7 is possible without further competition. Members with rank higher than identified are eligible to apply, but may be required to take a reduction should they be selected. The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised. For Merit Announcements, eligibility is limited to personnel currently assigned to the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard who are serving permanent Active Guard/Reserve (AGR) tours. Members must remain in the position to which initially assigned for a minimum of 24 months. Waivers may be approved in exceptional circumstances by TAG.
REMARKS: PCS Funding is Available. This position is also bid as Open Technician ANG 17-160. Candidates must have a valid state driver’s license. This position may require you to work a night shift.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is located in the Fuels Management Flight, within the Logistics Readiness Squadron, Mission Support Group, at an ANG Aviation Wing. The primary purpose of this position is to operate and maintain a fuel distribution system that includes a fuels laboratory, cryogenic storage, bulk storage, base service station, fuels information service center, mobile fueling operations , and to manage all accounts for missile propellants, aviation fuels, ground fuels and cryogenics utilized in support of aircraft, motor vehicles, engine test cells, powered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), generators and heating systems required to support the Wing mission and transient aircraft. Inspects, operates and maintains a complete fuels distribution system(s) to receive, store, transfer and issue both aviation and ground fuels. Inspects systems for leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and inoperative components such as distribution lines, storage tanks, hydrant pits/outlets, oil/water separator, pumps, automatic/manual valves, meters, and system control rooms. Operates, inspects and performs all required maintenance and repair on 400-5,000 gallon cryogenic storage tanks. Inspects, maintains, performs operator maintenance, and minor repairs to support equipment and cryogenic samplers to include the following: air purging units, vacuum gauges, vacuum pumps, portable efficiency meters, portable samplers and other support equipment that is required to maintain the cryogenic storage tank in a ready condition to receive, store and transfer LOX or LIN. Performs required quality control testing in the fuels laboratory as set forth in TO 42B-1-1, AFI 23-201 and other governing directives. Draws product samples from receiving transports, pipeline, mobile equipment and bulk storage tanks. Administers Fuels Information Service Center. Monitors ongoing operations to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and operational standards are met. Operates one or more types of special purpose design aviation and ground fuel tank truck vehicles having a capacity of up to 6,000 gallons and gross vehicle weight of 70,000 pounds used for fueling/defueling various types of aircraft and ground fuels applications such as AGE, power production, heating and engine test cells. Transports fuel from the bulk storage area to the flightline issue point, positions the vehicle for the refueling/defueling task as required. Monitors vehicle mounted main control panel, gauges, meters and instruments. Operates deadman control safety system and coordinates with personnel at the aircraft or receiving point. Exercises safety precautions during fueling/defueling operations. Inspects and performs operator maintenance and safety checks to ensure that refueling equipment is safe and operational. Maintains a consolidated tool kit program. Plans, monitors and conducts On-The-Job Training (OJT), for assigned Fuels Management Flight personnel. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE). Performs other duties as assigned.
