Job Title / Business Development Manager
Employer / The Childhood Development Initiative (CDI)
Location of Post / Fettercairn, Tallaght West, Dublin 24
Reporting Relationship / The Business Development Managerwill report to the CEO.
Purpose of the Post / To develop and support and diversify CDI income sources, and to manage and develop CDI’s portfolio of service offerings.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities / Business Development:
  • Develop and oversee the delivery of a strategic business model;
  • Monitor funding opportunities and coordinate development and submission of funding bids;
  • Coordinate the design and delivery oftailored supports in line with agreed project targets and processes;
  • Oversee the design and development of promotional materials;
  • Developrelationships with potential new partners, through stakeholder engagement, exploring needs, opportunities and responses;
  • Work with CDI staff to develop and communicate tailored approaches to identified needs;
  • Work with the Finance Officer to negotiate and finalise contracts; manage and minimize risk and ensurecompliance with regulations and best practice;
  • Support the Finance Officer in developing associated budgets, by informing and supporting relevant tender processes and ensuring efficiency and value-for-money criteria are met;
  • Manage all contracts, contractors and relevant partners in line with project needs;
  • Develop relationships with and manage interactions and potential partnerships with commercial entities;
  • Develop and oversee project management systems and processes to support the implementation of all projects;
  • Collect data and monitor project targets;
  • Providereports to the CEO and Board as required.
General:
  • Be an active team member contributing to organisational activities;
  • Represent CDI and build on and develop relationships with key stakeholders and agencies;
  • Any other duties as required.
Education and Training
  • Participate in mandatory and recommended training programmes in accordance with organisational and professional guidelines;
  • Maintain and develop professional expertise and knowledge by actively engaging in continuing professional development,attending and presenting at events, training courses, conferences, professional courses or other courses relevant to practice.

Eligibility Criteria: Qualifications and experience / Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance or a related field.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience at a decision making level;
  • Experience in managing significantproject management, including direct line management responsibilities and complex stakeholderengagement;
  • Demonstrableexperience of engaging with EU funded projects;
  • Expertise and experience in business development.

Other requirements specific to the post. / Driving Licence and access to vehicle are essential.

  • Ability to target and tailor service offerings to meet customer needs;
  • Expertise and experience in project management;
  • Experience in closing and managing new business tenders by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations;
  • Financial management experience, ability to commit to schedules/budgets and track accordingly relevant to role.
Relevant Knowledge:
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience of evidence based practice to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role;
  • Understanding the financial context of child and family services;
  • Experience of working with the Community and Voluntary and/or statutory sectors.
Communications:
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with colleagues and key stakeholders, etc.
  • Skills in tender development, presentation skills and report writing.
Critical Thinking Skills:
  • Ability to effectively collect, monitor and evaluate information and utilise to make appropriate decisions.
Organisational and team skills:
  • Ability to manage and motivate self in a busy working environment;
  • Effective team skills;
  • Flexibility and openness to change.

Contract / The contract of employment is currently up to the 31st of August 2018 and is subject to funding.
