Ccc School Supplies 2009-2010

CCC SCHOOL SUPPLIES 2009-2010

This is a list of school supplies for the coming year. All families are asked to bring in school supplies the first week of school. In order to save on storage space, families are asked to bring in paper products on the first day of their class’ assigned month (See Below). When you bring your supplies, put your items away in the garage storage area and sign the supply list posted in your classroom. We appreciate everyone’s contributions.

Unless indicated these items are for all the children to share as a group.

* If you have two children in the school you need to bring double of only the items in bold type.

In September bring:

  1. 2 four-ounce containers of Elmer’s school glue. (No substitutes please)
  2. 2 glue sticks any kind.
  3. 1 box of Water colors paints. Try to find the double colors please! We hear they even have triple colors if you can find them! Crayola, or a brand from Art Media or Aaron Brothers. They have a very nice but inexpensive set at Borders Books as too. The more colors, the more beautiful creations the children can make!
  4. 4 Uniball pens. Children love working with them. Gel impact or elite are best, but go for what’s on sale. Black ink or bright colored set.
  5. Please bring drawing Paper or 1 Ream of Copy Paper
  6. Three blank compact Disc. For pictures and portfolio work.
  7. 1 Can of sensitive skin, unscented shaving cream. We do a lot of shaving cream experiments! You can find this at any grocery store such as Safeway, Rite Aid, and Fred Meyers.
  8. A fun roll of tape! Colored duck tape, electrical tape, scotch tape, or masking tape. Lots of fun experiments to be had! Kid’s love to test the abilities of this material. We used up our whole supply last year as it is a much loved material!

School Supplies Organized By Class: Please bring items listed for your class. This will allow all of us to share some great materials, get bigger boxes with more colors, and keep overall costs for families down!

  1. Kindergarten, Teddy Bears, & Rainbow Rascals: 1 box of 96 crayons. Guess what kind, Crayola! Their colors are the best! (Kindergarten Only: Bring 1 pink eraser to be used for journal).
  2. High Five & Sunshine Kids & Super Stars: 1 box of Crayola, Rose Art, or Art Media Colored pencils. At least a 24 shade box. This allows for more vibrant work!
  3. Play Pals AM/PM: 1 or 2 boxes of Crayola colored markers, any shades. The more shades in a box the better! Please bring at least 16 markers total. You may purchase the regular size or thin line. (Play Pals Only: 1 container of Diaper wipes and please bring plastic bags—can be reused grocery sacks).

CCC is aiming to go green! In our school, we have been using dishes instead of disposable paper products. Should we find this too time consuming and/or hindering our ultimate goal of quality education, we may reinstate our request for paper products. Please still bring paper towels and other products listed below on your assigned month twice a year (which are used for sanitary purposes). On yourdesignated month please bring:

  1. 8 Rolls of Paper Towels
  2. 1 Box of Kleenex
  3. 1 Package of inexpensive white paper plates (Used for Field trips & Art Projects)

Please put away in the garage storage area and sign off on the list in your classroom.

Please Note:

Families that are unable to bring in supplies or wish to “opt out” can mail in a check for $50.00 or $75.00 for two children enrolled. This will cover the year. We ask that you mail the check in by September 1, or upon registration should you sign up after this date.

Materials

To Be Used in the Studios

The following is a list of what should be free materials that you, Grandma, Grandpa or a neighbor may have. Save the materials over the summer or during the school year and bring them in for us to use in our studios. Over the years, our supply has been dwindling and could use some replenishment. We would really appreciate you looking this over and thinking about what you might have or what you could find! If you have things that are not on the list that you think we may like, please leave a message at school, and we’ll call you back.

  1. Buttons - All sizes and types. One way to collect buttons is to cut them off of old clothes.
  2. Beads - Big and small. Look for old necklaces or holiday garlands.
  3. Ribbons - Fabric ribbons preferred.
  4. Beautiful yarns - Cotton and wool.
  5. Wood - Small and smooth pieces. We use wood primarily for gluing. Pine is a nice soft wood, but different types are appreciated. Pieces don’t have to be sanded, but make sure that they are not rough enough to cause splinters. No pieces bigger than 6” by 6” square.
  6. Natural wood pieces. Are you trimming a tree or even cutting one down. We can sure use these branches cut into little circles, or thin branches for our studio!
  7. Driftwood-As many pieces as possible! We use them for play and art!
  8. Dried and pressed flowers - The summer is a great time to collect and dry flowers for the art studio.
  9. Artificial flowers - Used for gluing projects.
  10. Rocks – Big and small ones from the beach, river or Grandpa’s old polished rock collection.
  11. Raffia and string - Made from natural materials.
  12. Unusual materials or paper - Shiny or sheer fabrics, and fancy art papers are great.
  13. Metals - Small mesh wire screening, nuts and bolts. We use wire in sculptures.
  14. Small stuff - Kids love to glue and create masterpieces. Small fun stuff is the best to glue! Put a jar in your kitchen and fill it with those fun things that you may come across this summer. (No milk jug lids, toilet paper tubes or food recyclables).
  15. Drawing Paper - If you have a source of paper without any writing on it we need it! Also plastic sheets, the kind used for overhead projectors.
  16. Wire. Copper and other metal wires left over from electricians. Copper piping pieces. Soldering wire.
  17. Old towels and wash clothes used to clean up paint messes and spills in the classroom.
