CCAC SOUTH: SET-105 - Technical Computing Spring 2015

Assignment #3Resume and MS-Word IntroductionRevised: 2/7/2015

Student Name:Date:

Provide a complete professional resume by using Microsoft word. Normally resumes are one to three pages, depending on your background. If applying for any job or university, you need to prepare a professional document, which reflects your capabilities and interests. If you have different job or education interests, you may provide several resumes to highlight your abilities in related fields.

Many of us have already had a Resume, and ordinarily we just update it. One suggestion for developing your resume, use the placement center on your campus. Also search and check the different types of resumes and curriculum vitaes on-line.

Some of the suggestions that can be in your Resume are:

  • Full name
  • Address, contact numbers and email
  • Summary of qualifications
  • Experience (Related and other): Name of employer, your positions, times of your work, type (Part time or Full Time), and your job activities list
  • Professional Certificate and Affiliations
  • Software or other knowledge
  • Education (School, degree, times), other important issues
  • Awards
  • Other Activities (community activities- volunteering or Interests)
  • For your resume you may start with your education, awards, publication, experience, and professional certificates, and software knowledge.
  • Some options that you must select:
  • Margins (normal is about 1” on all four sides)
  • Font type and size (what is considered to be good for a technical resume)
  • Layout
  • Position you are applying for – Find a help wanted ad for a job that you would like and “tune” your resume to address the ad.
  • File name: Assignment3_your_name; example Assignment3 – Dan Wolf.doc. Place this in the class folder with your name.

In this project you may use a small set of very useful MS-Word functions as you create your resume.
