CBT Nuggets announces user-driven Linux training series
“Linux in the Real World” will fill gap between certification and experience
EUGENE, Ore. – CBT Nuggets announces a new IT training series based on user feedback. “Linux in the Real World” is designed to fill the gap between knowledge needed to earn a certification and real-world experience.
The first video is now available to view, free of charge, at www.cbtnuggets.com/practical/practical_linux_training. After watching the video, viewers can take a survey and suggest subjects and issues they’d like to see in future videos. Trainer Shawn Powers will base the rest of the videos in the series on the feedback.
“This series is exciting, because we've basically thrown all the rules out the window,” Powers said. “Instead of a curriculum designed in advance with guidelines and specific objectives, Linux in the Real World is just me and the viewer, going over the things certification exams don't cover.”
This is the second user-driven series CBT Nuggets has created; the first was a CCNA series led by instructor Jeremy Cioara.
“Jeremy’s series had so much positive feedback from users that we had to do another one,” said Dan Charbonneau. “Linux training is in high demand, and Shawn is a top-tier Linux pro, so it was only natural to do this series next.”
Powers describes the series as a “virtual internship.”
“It's easy to prepare for certification, it's a lot harder to get real-world experience,” he said. “That's what this series is all about.”
