MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST:
¨  Working with adults and families in need, to give dignity and hope to anyone in crisis. The Community Centres Manager will provide overall management and co-ordination of the centres and Foodbanks, provide leadership and supervision to staff, volunteers and supporting visitors.
¨  You will also ensure the Foodbanks run efficiently and co-ordinate food deliveries and maintain a network of external food providers. Additionally you will identify gaps in the provision of services to clients and devise ways of delivering services and training to improve the lives of visitors to the centres.
¨  The post holder will also be responsible for managing financial resources and generating income, as well ensuring the centres are welcoming and well maintained.

The post-holder will be required to work within and represent the principles, ethos and values of Caritas Diocese of Salford in all aspects of their work.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

The post-holder will work in line with the Policies & Procedures of Caritas Diocese of Salford. They will also be required to ensure that service users/clients, staff and volunteers are treated in accordance with the Equal Opportunities policy of Caritas Diocese of Salford with particular emphasis on anti-discriminatory practice and the promotion of the rights of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

SAFEGUARDING

The post-holder will be required to ensure that children, young people and vulnerable adults are safeguarded, and must be aware that everyone has a safeguarding responsibility and a duty to refer any safeguarding concerns they may have to their line manager.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  To provide clear management and leadership to the effective running of the centres and to supervise and recruit staff and volunteers.

2.  To ensure the centres are welcoming and well maintained.

3.  To oversee and maintain the financial accountability of the centres by keeping records of income / expenditure, accounts, petty cash and volunteer expenses.

4.  To fundraise and generate income which will include writing grants, making bids and utilising staff and volunteers to co-ordinate fundraising appeals and events.

5.  To collect monitoring data for reporting; maintaining records of centre activities and updating relevant databases i.e. ThankQ.

6.  To be responsible for all aspects of the management of the services, this includes ensuring the smooth running of the centres with special attention to health and safety in relation to the safeguarding of school children in the shared use of school premises at St. Malachy’s Primary School, Collyhurst.

7.  To work closely with the Community Services Manager and management committee to identify current gaps in the provision of services to our client group and to devise appropriate ways of delivering services and training to this group to improve the lives of visitors to the centre.

8.  To ensure that the duty desks are staffed by volunteers on a daily basis for the reception and arrival of visitors signing in for food, support services or other assistance and that all new visitors are registered and assessed.

9.  To co-ordinate food deliveries made to the food bank and to build and maintain a network of external food providers.

10.  To ensure all the cleaning and general maintenance at the centres and food banks are carried out to a high standard and ensure repairs are reported to Head Office.

11.  To work closely with service users in the design and delivery of services that progress service users towards agreed goals.

12.  To collaborate closely with local providers in the statutory and voluntary sectors to ensure partnership working and to avoid service duplication.

13.  To represent the centres at meetings, where appropriate.

14.  To monitor and maintain data on the effectiveness of the project and report regularly to Community Service Manager and management committee.

15.  To give and receive regular supervision and appraisal.

16.  To participate in the Caritas schools programme and to engage with schools to promote the services of the centres.

17.  To recruit, support, supervise, train and encourage the volunteers, in line with Caritas Policies and Procedures.

18.  To carry out any other duty, commensurate with the level of the post, as may be determined by the Chief Executive Officer.

Promotion and Fundraising:

As a charity Caritas Diocese of Salford relies on a certain amount of fundraising. All members of staff are expected to contribute to fundraising activities and to be committed to promoting Caritas Diocese of Salford at every opportunity.

Health and Safety General Responsibilities:
