Casual Relief Caretaker - to include evenings and weekend work

Key Tasks:

1.  Security of the building.

2.  Oversight of evening functions to ensure that events run smoothly.

3.  Opening and closing of the building.

4.  General maintenance cover of internal and external areas.

5.  Disposal of waste from centre to waste disposal unit.

6.  Familiarisation with burglar and fire alarms, heating and water systems, and emergency evacuation procedures.

7.  Preparation of the building and rooms for the regular activities and one off events, including setting up and dismantling electrical and IT equipment.

8.  Clearing up and cleaning after evening functions.

9.  Ensuring toilets are maintained in a clean condition and supplied with toilet paper, soap etc.

10.  Other duties could include cleaning, window cleaning, gardening, decorating and other duties as required.

Skills required:

1.  Some experience of responsibility for security and/or maintenance.

2.  A cheerful and pleasant manner in dealing with members of the public.

3.  Requirement to be flexible in order to cover colleagues for holidays and illness.

4.  Ability to work as part of a mutually supportive team.

5.  Flexibility in terms of hours of work.

Hours of Work:

These will not be fixed but will depend on requirements. Hours are not likely to exceed 15 hours per week. The postholder would need to be available for work on weekday evenings, Saturdays or Sundays. There might be the occasional requirement to work after 12 midnight, for which time and a half would be paid.

Some occasional additional work will also be available during weekdays to cover colleagues for illness and holidays.

Pay: £7.50 per hour

Holiday Entitlement: The post will be deemed as casual employment and holiday entitlement will be calculated as hours are accumulated during the course of the year.
