)Meeting called to order 6:15pm at the Castlegar Community Complex – Purcell Room.
)Minutes of the 2013 AGM were handed out and reviewed. Minutes were accepted as distributed.
)There was no business arising from the minutes.
)President’s Report – Dave Grantham was happy to report that registration numbers were up from the previous year. There was a big push to raise awareness of soccer in our community at the beginning of 2014 which resulted in higher numbers for the mini soccer program. This mini soccer program is the basis for continued soccer in the youth soccer divisions.
The money that has been set aside for the new structure at Twin Rivers Soccer Fields will be in use soon. Rotary has other supporters ‘on board’ such as Celgar and Kalesnikoff to complete the project. This structure along with the ponds installed by the City of Castlegar is a great draw for our soccer games in the area. The Futsal League this November and January should be a great addition to CMSA efforts to keep people thinking about soccer all year round.
)Registrar’s Report – Leanne Ireland reported that numbers were definitely up this year from last year. There were almost 80 players in the U4 division and a total of approximately 470 players registered.
)Treasurer’s Report – See Attached
)Equipment Report – Leanne Osokin reported that she purchased some new soccer balls this season along with ice packs but did not need to purchase any new nets as they were purchased last year. She has ordered signs from HTR to remind EVERYONE to NOT climb on the nets as it poses a safety hazard.
)Fundraising Report – Shondell was absent so Dave Grantham reported that Shondell did a fantastic job of fundraising this past season. Plaques were purchased and presented to major sponsors for something different. The plaques were well received by sponsors.
)Youth Boys/Girls Report – Roger Carlson reported that the season was successful. Both Leslie Swanson and Roger Carlson are concerned with the U12 and U11 mandate from BC Soccer of non results based play. It is impossible to hold playoffs, therefore, the season fizzles out rather than has playoffs. Also, both coordinators would like to re-work the U18 division as it is becoming more difficult to get the numbers that are needed to run a successful division. The youth wind-up has not happened for a couple of years and they would really like to see it reinstated.
