Case study request

Pagoda PR is employed by the Scottish Older People’s Assembly (SOPA) to carry out communications work.

The overarching aim of our work is to raise the profile of SOPA so that people are aware of what the Assembly does throughout the year and not just during the annual meeting in parliament.

In order to do so, we are currently looking to identify six human interest stories (case studies) linked to the SOPA committee to be used as media features.

At the last SOPA committee meeting we heard lots of interesting stories about individuals and groups in local areas who were respondingto issues that affect older people, from befriending services for elderly LGBT people in Glasgow to the challenges of rural transport in Orkney. These are the kinds of people we would like to hear from so that we can then highlight their stories and link them into what SOPA does – which is to take their concerns directly to decision makers.

We will aim to ensure case studies are diverse and inclusive. Broadly speaking we are looking to find:

  • Individual/groups from a selection of geographical areas, so that we can target regional media.
  • Individual/groups from a variety of backgrounds (e.g. LGBT, interfaith, disabled) to pitch to a range of publications.
  • Individuals/groups who are doing something innovative to address specific issues (e.g. isolation, health and social care, transport, etc) affecting older people either locally or nationally.

Further down the line, we may look to secure radio interviews or short film pieces but to start with we would be very grateful if you could please take 10 – 15 minutes of your time to fill out the following form and return to myself If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me on 0131 556 0770.

This is a great opportunity to highlight the diverse lives of elderly people in Scotland, as well as the work of SOPA and local groups. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.
