Two Man Scramble Rules

USGA RULES

1) The USGA Rules of Golf will govern all competition, as amended for local rules of play and those regarding the Scramble Format.

2) The Dutch Hollow PGA Rules Committee will decide all rules decisions.

3) If the committee observes any intentional high scoring on Saturday (Example 3 putting from 5 ft on final 3 holes) the committee reserves the right to award a par on a hole and adjust the flights. The committee reserves the right to review any day 1 score7 shots higher than a previous years round.

SCRAMBLE FORMAT

On every hole, each member of the team may hit a tee shot. The team then selects one of the tee shots from which to play. All members of the team may then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated for each shot until the ball is holed.

SELECTED SHOT

Each team member may place their ball within one club length of the selected shot, but no nearer to the hole. If the shot selected is played from a hazard, bunker, primary rough, secondary rough, fairway or fringe of the green, the ball must remain in the hazard, bunker, primary rough, secondary rough, fairway or fringe of the green.

Players may change the make or type of ball between shots, between holes or at any time, but must announce their intention to do so.

IMPROVING LIE OF THE BALL (THROUGH THE GREEN)

A team member may improve their lie by hand placing the ball or by moving it with their clubhead. The ball is in play when the player addresses it, or if they do not address it, when they make their next stroke at it.

IMPROVING LIE OF THE BALL (IN A HAZARD)

A team member may improve their lie by hand placing the ball. The ball is in play when the player addresses it. In a bunker, the bunker may be raked prior to any ball being placed. Any player in the group may rake the bunker.

IMPROVING LIE OF THE BALL (PUTTING GREEN)

When putting, the ball must be placed within one putterhead length from the mark, but no nearer to the hole. Once the ball is holed, no further strokes count and the score of the holed ball is recorded.

Special Rules Related to Flighting and Scores

To avoid any indication of sandbagging into flights the following will be in effect.

Any team that improves by 7 shots or better on Day two will be:

First – Congratulated on a great round.

Second- be noted as a team that will not be eligible for pari-mutuel or Calcutta payoffs if they do like wise in a successive year.

TEES & PACE OF PLAYEveryone play from the BLUE tees. Pace of play is set for 4 hrs and 20 minutes. Slow play penalties will apply. A Red Flag flying on the ranger cart will proceed putting a group on the clock.

SCORING A team’s score is calculated at scratch.

TIE BREAKER

-Ties for flighting will be decided by card match from the 18th hole backwards, i.e. 17th, 16th etc.

Tie Breaker winner moves to higher flight

-Ties for first place in flights will be as above except the championship flight (Play off).

-All other ties including pari-mutuelwill be decided by a card match from 18th hole back.

-SKINS-If there are no skins out, we will pay all eagles. If no eagles, will pay from the #1 handicap hole, then the #2 handicap hole, etc.
