CAROL FAITH COOPER BRUNGARDT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Professional Background of Carol Faith Cooper Brungardt

1937 – 2005

Carol Faith cooper Brungardt was a devoted educator with a career, which spanned over 44 years. Her teaching degree came from Fort Hays Kansas State University and in 1989 she obtained a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Wichita State University. Carol’s first teaching position was in a one-room schoolhouse in Rush County, Kansas. Her family later settled in Phillipsburg where she taught at both the elementary and middle school. During her years in Phillipsburg, students knew her as Mrs. Carol Heinze. Educating the whole child was Carol’s mission- both at school and church. Those who knew her and had the opportunity to learn under her understood that each student was special to her. She was passionate and caring as she strove to help each individual live up to their full potential. She went on to a 10-year tenure at Prairie View Adolescent School in Newton, Kansas, believing that all children are good, some just get on the wrong track for awhile. Carol considered her teaching days as some of her best achievements and in her later years of educating found great reward in working through ACCK (Associated Colleges of Central Kansas) placing and supervising student teachers who were entering the special education field. Her passion for education and helping young people achieve their goals has prompted the Carol Brungardt family to offer this scholarship in her honor. The family hopes the awarded recipients life will be enriched by this scholarship, and they too will become a future educator who makes a difference in the lives of children.
