biographical notes

Carlo Palese gets his diploma in piano in 1983, at the age of 19, at the Conservatorium L. Boccherini in Lucca with the highest votation, cum Laude and mention ad honorem.Afterwards his musical talent has developed by studying with musicians as Maria Tipo, Pietro Rigacci, Piero Rattalino, and attending masterclasses with pianists like Aquiles delle Vigne and Murray Perahia. In 1987 he becomes pupil of Aquiles delle Vigne and under his guide he gets the Diplome Superieur d’ Execution at Ecole Normale de Musique A. Cortot in Paris.

During these years he wins several prizes in important national and International Piano Competitions (Viotti-Valsesia, Rome, Milano, Caltanissetta, Treviso,Torrefranca prize, Taranto, Udine, Marsala among others). In 1992 he is been invited in U.S.A. for a tour of concerts ( New York, Hartford) and in the same year he gets the second prize at Cincinnati World Piano Competition.

He has been performing as a concert pianist for twenty-five years playing in Italy, France (Salle Cortot, Paris), Germany (Hamburg Musikhalle, Munchen Gasteig ecc.), Slovenia, U.S.A.

His musical interests move from classic repertoire to the music of our time; in this field he often performs new works dedicated to him (Gabriele Manca,Gabrio Taglietti, Fabrizio Festa, Gabriel Senanes and others) both in solo recitals and in ensembles (Alter Ego, Sentieri Selvaggi, Set of Three).

He has played with several musicians including violinists Alberto Bologni,Alessandro Cappone, Sam Mc Clure, Hae Sun Kang, Lucio Degani,Gregory Sandomirsky, Alexandre da Costa, Paolo Franceschini, cellists Giorgio Fiori, Cecilia Radich, Brian Kubin e Andrea Nannoni, pianists Cristiano Grifone, Andrea Rebaudengo, Roberto Prosseda. Giuseppe Bruno. Interesting also the duo with organist Claudio Brizi concerning the XIX century repertoire for Harmonium and Piano.

He has has made collaborations with R.A.I. ( Italian Television ) and recorded for Camerata Tokyo.

He is piano professor in Lucca at the Istituto Superiore di Studi musicali “Luigi Boccherini” and regularly holds masterclasses.

He is also President of the Association "Livornoclassica" and Artistic Director of Livorno Piano Competition.
