Job Title:Carer Support Manager

Salary:£30,000p.a. FTE

Hours:35 per week

Accountability:To the Chief Executive

AIMS OF THE POST

The post exists to;

  • Work directly with carers
  • Coordinate the work of existing support workers, ensuring a smooth-running quality service for carers
  • Engage and support volunteer support workers with a focus on carer volunteers, and to ensure that volunteers are provided with training and skills to support them with the transition into paid employment or other activity in the community.
  • Coordinate a programme of training for carers, including practical training such as injury prevention, as well as more person-centred training, such as presentation skills, to empower carers.
  • Lead on quality assurance and gaining a PQASSO accreditation

DUTIES

  1. Working with carers

ATo manage own caseload, of parent carers, carers of adults with physical disabilities, and carers of those with substance misuse issues.

BTo provide interviews and home visits to carers in person, at Carers Network premises, or at designated locations around Westminster.

CTo signpost and refer carers as appropriate and monitor referrals.

DTo follow up on carers to ensure that signposting and referring has been effective.

ETo work in partnership with colleagues to support events and activities aimed at building peer networks among carers and promoting services

FTo take proactive measures to ensure that information is accessible to carers from Westminster’s diverse communities

GTo respond to information requests made through our website.

HTo provide support to carers including:

  • Emotional support at times of crisis
  • Help in obtaining a Carers Assessment
  • Help in raising their concerns about services where necessary

ISupport and develop opportunities for peer support through social groups, coffee mornings etc.

JFacilitate support groups around specific topics

2Coordinating Support Workers

ATo receive all incoming referrals and allocate them to the appropriate support worker

BTo develop and manage internal systems for identifying, procuring, storing and retrieving relevant, accurate and up to date information, printed and electronic

CTo ensure that Carers Network observes best practice in accessibility of information.

DTo provide support to other support workers as appropriate. To schedule weekly one to ones and team meetings.

3Recruiting and supporting volunteers

ATo recruit volunteer carer support workers using best practise. and to ensure that all volunteers and paid workers are CRB checked.

BTo implement a comprehensive induction and training programme for volunteers and provide ongoing coaching and support.

4Coordinating Training

ATo coordinate a programme of training for carers, in line with the terms of CNW’s service level agreements

BTo ensure that training is promoted and receives an optimum uptake.

CTo work with carers to ensure that the training provided meets their needs.

DTo obtain feedback on training to ensure that training is needed and to measure benefit.

4Quality Assurance

ATo lead on the implementation of PQASSO and on achieving a quality standard;

BTo maintain a schedule of progress on PQASSO

CTo develop policies and other documentation in partnership with the Chief Executive for sign off and to store this information accessibly and systematically.

DTo lead on ensuring that all staff are aware of policies and procedures.

ETo be a champion of best practise.

5Record-Keeping and Report-Writing

ATo maintain records of individual work with carers in line with CNW’s policy.

BTo complete weekly monitoring on the database

CTo provide information for project reports for management and for funding and monitoring bodies

6Organisational and Professional Development

ATo work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to include regular attendance at team meetings.

BTo attend and actively participate in regular supervision and annual appraisals with your line manager.

CTo undertake relevant training and staff development activities as required.

DTo actively implement current policies and procedures, to contribute to their development to promote the efficient and effective running of the organisation.

7Additional Tasks

AThe role is open to development and you may be required to carry out responsibilities appropriate to the post’s grade
