Care Coordination Partners,

In May 2017, the Blue Ride call center began enforcing the rule that only a member or their legal representative are allowed to call in and schedule medical/dental rides. This enforcement has decreased a significant amount of fraud that was occurring in our transportation network.

Blue Plus recognizes that there are still circumstances in which a person might be trying to book rides for a family member, even though there is no official legal relationships between those persons (e.g. an adult child arranging transportation for their senior parent). To identify someone other than the member as “ok” to arrange rides, Blue Ride Representatives need some type of verification of this relationship.

The process for scheduling rides includes the following options:

1.  The Care Coordinator may book advance rides on the Blue Ride Portal.

2.  The member may call the Blue Ride number and book their own rides.

3.  The member may call with another person present in their home and give verbal authorization for the Blue Ride staff to speak to this person.

4.  If another person has a legal relationship to the member, they must fax their paperwork to 218-748-2925, Attn: Corr Team 807. This documentation will be saved in the member’s file so the caller will not have to re-fax any paperwork for future calls into the Blue Ride line.

5.  If the caller is from a Refugee Resettlement Agency (VOLAG) and is helping a refugee they must identify themselves as from the specific resettlement agency.

6.  If the caller works for a County they may fax information on County letterhead to 218-748-2925, Attn: Corr Team 807 about their ability to schedule on behalf of a specific member.

7.  **NEW** If the caller is a family member or friend and will be scheduling rides for a MSHO or MSC+ member, the Care Coordinator can send a form to Blue Ride to notify them of this relationship. It will be saved to the member’s file at Blue Plus, so for future rides, that person will be in the system as an authorized scheduler. This form (6.34) is posted to the Care Coordination Portal and can be emailed once completed to Blue Ride at
