3.Discussion

  2. Approval of March Meeting Minutes
  3. Michelle motioned to approve, Jamesey seconded; minutes were approved.
  4. CADI Update
  5. The steering committee also decided to hold a Community Health Workers Symposium in November; the possible dates are the 7th or 14th. Topics will include cardiovascular disease and diabetes education, cultural competency, and motivational interviewing; it will also be an opening day for the guide.
  6. Michelle mentioned that the Marion County Public Health Department has a lot of community health workers that could benefit.
  7. Resource Guide Discussion
  8. Caitlin mentioned that the pilot test was set for April 8 and 17 but the steering committee sent back changes that needed to be discussed by this group. She also mentioned that the steering committee has a renewed interest in the resource directory and believes that CADI can monetize the directory through sponsors.
  9. The group agreed to send out the emails on Thursday, April 24th and Tuesday, April 29th.
  10. Everyone discussed usingGoogle Docs, which will provide ongoing access to the resource directory file; several membersstated that they have used it before. Caitlin mentioned that you can comment on cells without crowding up the document.
  11. The group agreed to make it password protected on the website; Caitlin will also include the link on the agendas.
  12. Group decided that a CADI member from each district can be the champion and be responsible for reaching out to their contacts in that district. The potential regional champions were decided as follows:
  13. District 1: Rose Flinchum
  14. District 2: Robin Vida and her intern can continue to work on this.
  15. District 3: Christine Howell and Susan King
  16. District 4: Donna Vandergraff
  17. District 6: Karen Finnigan
  18. District 7: Danielle Hudak
  19. District 8: Irasema Rivera; she mentioned that someone in Bloomington is putting together a community resources directory.
  20. District 9: Andrew Naumann
  21. District 10: Cindi Holloway
  22. Caitlin will contact Roy Geib to see if he wants to be on board; Caitlin will also contact the above people to see if they are interested in being regional champions.
  23. In terms of promotion, Caitlin will make business cards to encourage organization to add their link on the CADI directory; she will also ask CADI members to send out emails through their listservs. Caitlin discussed banner ads on the website but without giving preference to one resource.
  24. Caitlin suggested adding a document listing counties in each district; she will also regularly back up the document.
  25. Member Updates
  26. Jamesey mentioned that OASIS has four new volunteer training classes; the goal is to have 10 classes in the summer and 5 in the fall.
  27. Michelle mentioned that the nutrition analysis tool has been procured by Marion County Public Health Department. She will be working with local independent restaurants and provide nutrition analysis resources. This is limited to Marion County; the goal is to come out with a toolkit in the future. Michelle also discussed Heart Alive, a 6-month cardiovascular screening and education program for small business (10 to 100 employees). She will send brochure to Caitlin.
  28. Caitlin discussed Top 10 by 2025. YMCA is the convening agent for Marion and surrounding counties. The goal is to move into the top 10 healthiest communitiesin the county by 2025. Caitlin mentioned that she will be switching from the nutrition to communications workgroup.
  29. Cindy mentioned that she is working to get people signed up for the chronic disease self-management classes in a partnership with hospitals in six counties. The pilot started in 2012 with a community hospital to focus on hospital readmissions; she will send an informational PowerPoint to Caitlin, which will be attached to the minutes.
  30. It was suggested to include resources/documents on the website. Caitlin suggested adding these to the workgroups page.
  31. Caitlin asked the group to send suggestions for free or low-cost event spaces that can host 150 to 200 people for the November symposium. Also, let Caitlin know if you are interested in planning the symposium.

  33. Jamesey motioned, Teasa seconded to adjourn meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 3pm.
