WEEE Regulations (disposal of electrical equipment including light bulbs)

Since January 2007 the Waste Electrical and Electronic Regulations (WEEE Regulations) have governed the disposal of electrical equipment. When businesses or organisations create waste they have a range of responsibilities in the safe disposal of this waste. The general guidance we would give to organisations is to check their legal responsibilities with regards to this important bit of legislation through the Environment Agency. In some situations the organisation will be responsible for disposal and in other situations they won’t be. For more information see http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/business/topics/waste/32084.aspx.
