Capitalization and Punctuation Lessons

October 13, 2010 – October 22, 2010

1.  ______5. ______8. ______

2.  ______6. ______9. ______

3.  ______7. ______10. ______

4.  ______

Step 2:

Start with the capitalization lessons first, and complete the lessons in numerical order. In order to complete a lesson, you first need to go to my website and view the PowerPoint associated with that lesson. You also should spend some time practicing the skills by playing the online games and participating in the online activities. Once you feel that you REALLY UNDERSTAND the concept, complete the assignment. In order to do this, click on the Assignment link on my website. You can complete the assignment by filling in the boxes using Microsoft Word. Print out the assignment and turn it in.

EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE EVERY LESSON ASSIGNED TO THEM WITH AN 80% ACCURACY. IF THIS DOESN’T HAPPEN IN YOUR FIRST ATTEMPT, YOU WILL BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO MEET WITH ME IN A SMALL GROUP TO REVIEW THE CONCEPT AND PRACTICE IT FURTHER. THEN, YOU WILL BE GIVEN AN ALTERNATIVE ASSIGNMENT.

Step 3:

Once you have successfully completed all of the lessons assigned to you, go back to my website and print the Editing your Narrative for Capitalization and Punctuation Errors sheet and complete. In order to complete this sheet, you will also need a hard copy of your narrative.

True mastery of a grammar concept is only obtained when you actually use the concepts correctly in your writing. Therefore, you MUST demonstrate your understanding of ALL the capitalization and punctuation concepts by using them correctly at least TWICE in your narrative. The Editing your Narrative for Capitalization and Punctuation Errors sheet will help you track this. In order to complete this sheet, you will need to first review the PowerPoints for each concept. Then you need to find where you used each concept or add details in to your narrative to incorporate the use if the concept. Double-check to make sure that you properly capitalized or punctuated the concept, and use the sheet to document where the concept is in your writing.

All of the information can be viewed and accessed inside and outside of the classroom, and ALL LESSONS MUST BE COMPLETED BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22nd. This means that some of you will need to work on these outside of class!

There will be a test on all concepts on Friday, October 22nd!

If you finish all of the above, then you will need to complete the above process for the advanced punctuation concepts- these are also available on my website.
