This is your district’s complete guide to Training and Special Programs being offered through the Model Schools Program of the Capital Region. These courses are free of charge to staff in the Model Schools Districts. These districts include: Bethlehem, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Cobleskill-Richmondville, Cohoes, CTE, Guilderland, Middleburgh, Niskayuna, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, Schalmont, Schenectady and Scotia-Glenville. Staff in districts who do not participate in the NERIC Model Schools Service can participate in these training workshops also. The fee for the workshops is $165.00 per full day of training and $85.00 for a half day of training (a half-day consists of 2-4 hours).

Complete Your Own Technology Project

Have you begun a technology project you intend to use with your students only to come up against a stumbling block? Now's your chance to get the individual help you need. Participants will have the support of a technology integration specialist and access to the Internet, AppleWorks, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Inspiration, iMovie, and other resources. Suitable for educators of grades K-12. The lab contains PCs. Mac users please bring a computer with you.

CPS- Learning the Classroom Performance System

Learn how the Classroom Performance System (CPS) can be a useful tool in your classroom. CPS is a new technology that uses handheld remotes to record data into a program on your computer. Are you interested in putting your curriculum online or creating professional development materials for access via the Web? This full-day session will cover the design of online courses to actual course creation using Blackboard 6. Topics

Designing Quality Web Resources for Technology Integration

Whether you want to learn how to create a Web page for your classroom, a Webquest, scavenger hunt, or other types of web activity, this course will putyou in touch with a multitude of excellent curriculum-related web resources. Plus, you'll learn the skills and strategies you need to get the job done! Web navigation templates will be provided. You just locate the Internetresources or create your own, and plug them into the templates. Gainstrategies to improve web-researching skills. Easy Grade Pro Refresher

After an overview of the features of Easy Grade Pro, which MacWorld says is “the clear overall winner” among grade-book programs, participants will get hands-on practice importing data from Winschool, setting up their grade-books, setting up seating charts and customizing their grade-books for the upcoming year. Experienced EGP users will explore more advanced features of the program, including report options, set up their gradebooks for progress reports and have help available to answer questions. Participants whose schools use Winschool, should come to the class with a disk containing your class lists. Participants who will leave with a gradebook setup and ready to use as well as information on where support is available so that they can continue to use EGP with confidence.

FrontPage: Create a Website for Your Classroom

Teachers taking this course will learn to use FrontPage to create a website for their classroom and will be introduced to different techniques for implementing a website as a way to provide information to students, parents and community. Creating a website is also an excellent way to showcase their students’ work.

Following an introductory class covering the basics, participants will have an opportunity to meet with the instructor on a monthly basis to continue to update their website. This course requires approximately6 hours for completion.

Students will develop a theme and create a storyboard to plan their website in order to make it clear and effective. Areas covered will include: creating background colors, textures and/or patterns, collecting and inserting web pages, collecting and inserting digital images from a digital camera, linking text to websites and other pages, creating tables, advanced images, i.e. creating thumbnails, marquees and banners, understanding navigation and transitions,

FrontPage is a popular web management and authoring tool. This session will focus on using FrontPage to create instructional web pages.
