Thank you for your interest in CAHRA’s Sons and Daughter’s Award to be provided by CAHRA for its members’ children who are high school seniors, high school graduates, or planning to enroll as a first year college undergraduate student in an accredited community, junior, or (4) year college.
Every completed application received by the deadline will be evaluated. The CAHRA member(s) whose child/ren is/are selected for the award will be notified one week before the award day. All applications become the property of CAHRA and cannot be returned. / THINGS TO REMEMBER IN APPLYING FOR AWARD:
The application must be postmarked May 17.
A current complete transcript is required and must be submitted with the application. Grade reports are not acceptable. Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade, and term in which each course was taken.
Carefully review your completed application before it is submitted. CAHRA reserves the right to process only those applications found to be complete by the postmark deadline.

CAHRA’S SONS AND DAUGHTERSAWARD

DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION
The Capital Area Human Resource Association (CAHRA) has established an award(s) to help finance higher education for a child/ren of its members. Awards shall be made without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability, or national origin.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be children of CAHRA members. Applicants may be either high school seniors or high school graduates.

AWARDS
Awards of $500 each may only be used for the first year of undergraduate study. A total of (3) awards may be awarded in the calendar year.

APPLICATION
Students must complete the application and mail it along with a complete high school transcript of grades to CAHRA, postmarked no later than May 16. Applicants are solely responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Efforts to maintain applicants’ information confidential will exist.

RECIPIENT SELECTION
Award recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals, and personal justification.

A selection committee comprising non-CAHRA members will review and determine award recipient(s). Awards will be made based on the selection committee’s determination and CAHRA’s ability to fund the award(s). Not all applicants will receive awards. As much as it is possible, CAHRA members or officers will not participate in the selection.

Recipients of the award should be notified one week before the award date of June 5, 2013.

PAYMENT OF AWARD(S)
Award payments shall be authorized by CAHRA’s board. Check payments are expected to be made in full to the recipient during CAHRA’s June 5, 2013, meeting. Recipients who are unable to attend such meeting will receive their award via a check mailed to the recipient’s home mailing address.

REVISION POLICY
The general conditions and procedures under which awards are authorized are at the sole discretion of CAHRA’s board and may change with or without notice.
