Meeting Notes/Minutes

WELCOME:

Mark Couvillon, CAP Coordinator, called the Advisory meeting to order at 9:30AM. Mr. Couvillon welcomed Advisory members and guests, thanking them for their continued support of the CAP program.

NEW BUSINESS:

CAP Program has a new GM, Bill Tradewell, who works for both Chrysler & Raytheon. Raytheon is taking over all training centers globally for Chrysler. CAP will not be affected by this change at all.

PROGRAM UPDATE:

Presently there are 20 students enrolled in CAP with a waiting list to take new students into the program. CAP presently has three classes that will be scaled back to two classes, dropping the CAP 3 program at this time.

RECRUITING:

Starting March 2nd, Mr. Couvillon will begin visiting all the High Schools giving presentations about the CAP program.

ONLINE INTEGRATION:

Due to the 2009-2010 new layout, both CAP programs have been restructured to follow the new format. Next year there will be more online classes as part of the curriculum through Raytheon.

ASE’S:

All dealers were reminded to support registration of students with the upcoming ASE testing dates of May 7, 12, and 14.

SKILLS USA:

CAP placed 3rd in Regional Skills Hands On and 1st in Job Interview. Both students will be competing in State Skills competition in Bradenton, Florida.

DEALER CLASSES:

Tom Russell is pushing for Sheridan Tech to teach some dealer trainings for Raytheon in the following year.

HEV TRAINING:

All HEV Training is now moved to online classes.

OPEN DISCUSSION

Mr. Couvillon asked how and if we need to change the way we are doing business to help the dealers with the cost of students in the dealers at the hard economic times. Many dealers voiced opinions about possible flat rate hiring instead of paid hourly which will lessen the impact on dealer profits.
